I got the Raven X2 recently as a present from my kids. The previous posts offer good advice and the booklet is well printed and illustrated with good quality B&W photos.

The whole technique for jacket and shirt are explained, as is the setup of the gimmick. Some basic accessories are included and I was performing with it within an hour, although only basic bits as explained in the booklet.

I would add that the biggest aid to the Raven is not the DVD but your imagination. There are any number of everyday household objects that you could vanish with some practice, many of which may be more effective to the spec than the odd coin.

I'd say that it's relatively easy to disappear objects but a lot harder to make them re-appear effectively but experience and practice will sort this.

hello. I am wondering 2 things. One, is it worth it getting the deluxe raven if i can get it for $38. Second, is it a slight of hand trick? Don't tell me how at all though.

It is not a slight of hand trick but will require a bit of skill and practice to use properly.

Dat, have you tried the 'bending a key' routine yet using the X2?

i have the raven and it has quite a few impressive effects. I prefer the shirt/jacket method, as it takes suspicion away from the sleeves.
If only there were an effective way to perform the raven effect while wearing a short sleeve t-shirt.

7 out of 10

There are plenty of methods. Even the instructions that come with the Raven have a method that can be done in short sleeves, and the PM forums have one that can be done with a T-shirt.

In fact, if you read many of the posts about the Raven you'll discover that many of those who have it, rarely seem to use it.

Both of these concerns have been mentioned before and I seem to remember that one way suggested to mask any sounds was to make sure your patter is timed, and loud enough, to cover them up.

Another way to stop so much sound is to use a bit of tape in the right place...it doesn't get rid of it 100% but it softens it, so it is much easier to hide...either with pater or general noise if you are in a pub/club/restaurant.

The Raven

Postby Dominick » Feb 23rd, '06, 21:48

Hi folks!
I've actually looked into the Raven...And I also looked at the M5 system...which states it's better...Hmm...I dunno if it is or not, but it's something to look into!
Thanks,
Dominick

Hi, I'm new to the forum.

The Raven is different to the M5, the both can do some certain things that the other cannot i.e. you are not 'clean' after vanishing with the M5, although the M5 produces some amazing effects...

I have, and use, both.
