Still using an 'odd' angle and the bit about the loser facing a dangerous stunt is an echo of The Magicians but there are some good names amongst the performers. Hopefully it'll work out well.

This isn't a criticism per se, but I just felt it wasn't for me, much like that prank-based magic show before it. It's for da kidz. Also, I feel I've peeped too far behind the curtain to be impressed by what really ought to be impressive TV magic. When the methods become trivial, then you need something more than just the trick to be the draw. Again, though, that's just from where I'm standing.

Did enjoy Dee's performance *after* the paintball catch, though - just about the only part of the illusion that sold its reality.

Sadly my hopes were well and truly dashed. A rehash of earlier Magic and non magic programmes, far too much padding, a voice-over which was sarcastic, unfunny, crude and unnecessary, and some aspects in questionable taste. There were some good ideas and routines but even with talent like that of Dee Christopher, the programme (I refuse to elevate it to the status of a show) did nothing for me.

Contrast this with Dynamo on Parkinson Masterclass recently and at last we have a demonstration of, IMHO, how magic should be presented. Instead of the style of his TV shows full of padding and ancillary acolytes, the performance section was just him, the audience and Magic. Nothing complicated and many of you will be able to do most of what he did but it was pure magic to watch. As you might know, I don't have much time for card tricks but all the card stuff Dynamo did was engaging and watchable, even if I did know a method of achieving the same end result. He's talking of doing a stage tour at some future point so put me the list for tickets please!

now there's a first. I have the complete polar opposite of your view on this show Paul, It was half an hour of well paced, well constructed effects, ( ok, not that keen on the eggy pants thing) . The voice over, I found minimal, in that he was only there to talk about the scores.

Interesting thoughts Dale, we'll agree to differ on most points but I agree the eggy pants thing was a bit 'off' and there were some excellent effects used in the show. It was probably a bit of a joke that the broadcast date was April 1st!

I hear that 6 shows have been commissioned, all to be recorded in front of a studio audience. The consultants, Danny Hunt, Scott Penrose, Noel Qualter David Britland, Iain Sharkey and Stephen Long all have impeccable pedigrees in magic so it could be tweaked a bit depending on viewer feedback. As usual, I very much doubt the target audience is this 66 year old f@rt!

Ive been talking with Mr Owen, and the others in the show. As far as I know, the series is now in the can. I know its due to air in September.
I dont think that there is a studio audience, as its more or less the same format as the pilot.

( Though i may be wrong) :)

Thanks Dale, I was reading the various web reports about Killer Magic which mentioned a studio audience for the series - it did seem somewhat at odds with the way the pilot show was presented!

Some of the effects were pretty cool especially the paintball one, also loved the guys reaction after she ate her plate! Though the fish and chips one was a bit of a let down especially when you look at the guys watch ;).

So, 12 months after the pilot and six months later than anticipated the series is finally being aired. After 2 episodes so far are there any thoughts? I'm sadly disappointed that the format is still dire but at least it was good to see two classic old favourites in episode 2 - Healed and Sealed and Snowstorm in China - there may yet be hope!

Well, the third episode was on a par with the previous ones and there were some seriously good routines on show. (Blimey, at this rate I'll become a Killer Magic fan!!!)

After viewing all six shows I have to admit there was some seriously good magic on display. Also some very second rate stuff but only a minority. The scoring thing was still irritatingly pointless and must have been rigged in one aspect. The one where the 'loser' had a clip attached top various parts of the anatomy included one clip on the male dangly bits - obviously Jasz wasn't going to be the loser that week!

As a half hour show this worked well and didn't outstay it's welcome each week. Yes, I'd like to see another series - now I've managed to mentally filter out the scoring aspect!

PS If you want to see all 6 shows in one sitting, organise sandwiches and coffee then tune in to BBC3 at 1am on May 9th - all six will be shown until 4am.
