Not used clarity box, to me it looks too proppy not to mention the size of it being too big for close up (pocket wise). I'd much rather do a ring flight, throw my keys on the table, go into a card effect as explained & end with FOB kind of as an after thought to the audience as the keys have been on the table the whole time. On the odd occasion they notice the card in the fob then the card will end up somewhere else, 8 or 9 times out of 10 they don't pre-notice it.

I've not used Clarity Box myself yet. I've seen a few people perform it. It's just not something you can ideally carry around with you. It's very similar to FOB.

Should we be posting methods?

I'm rather fond of the Casanova Concept... http://www.dudethatscoolmagic.co.uk/aca ... -_DVD.html

It does need a bit of set up, so I've only used it once or twice, but it really is quite amazing!

And a JOL wallet is a bit essential...

Hi thanks for your comment. Very helpful. I already have the JOL Plus Large wallet. I will be purchasing Casanova Concept by Steve Haynes. How good is the routine though?

The main thing on this disc is the routine "Casanova Closer" and the routine is (more or less, as this is from memory, and I haven't done this for about a year)...

Two cards are signed by your helper (and it must be by the same helper).

One card (say the RED card) is placed in the spectators wallet which is then put back in their pocket... the other (the BLACK one) is lost in the deck. It vanishes from the deck and is found in the magicians wallet. The card is again lost in the deck and again found in the magicians wallet...Only it's not the signed black card this time, but the signed red card!

And in the spectators wallet is the signed BLACK card!!!

Now, there are reasons that I don't use this very often. I don't want to carry stuff around for just one trick. The reset isn't great either... But for a one off, it's a bit good.

It didn't get great reviews on here, for similar reasons... ftopic23755.php" target="_blank" target="_blank

I'm personally not so worried about the "circular," issues though... but it does take a little audience control.

There are a couple of other things to bear in mind with this... (and if this counts as exposure, then I apologize in advance, and Mods, please delete...) ... You'll need two lots of the same card (I got a couple of one way forcing decks), and a scalpel and a can of spray mount... and you'll need to be comfortable palming a card too. It's certainly not a "straight from the box" trick.

For all that, even considering that I hardly use this... I think this is a rather under rated piece!

If you can really impress upon your helper which card they have hidden away in their wallet... the final revelation as to which card is now in their wallet, is rather stunning!

Hope this helps :)

Card in wallet (with or without an envelope) is a very strong affect, but..... overdone by the years.
Go to a big event where one has hired 5 magicians and 4 of them end their routine with... yes.
I have done it for more than 30 years. Now I stopped doing it. Everyone does it.
The same is (alas) the case with the ID.

I don't think Clarity box is safe for table hopping. (angles....)

Ryan, if you are still monitoring this thread. Have you performed any of the effects. In your posts you say you have fob, jol wallet and are looking into other stuff. My advice is to stop looking and start performing. Otherwise you will always look and research but you will never actually perform. I think you will find that once you go out and do the deed, most of your questions will be answered.

Completely agree... Bmat has given you the best advice on this thread! Go out and perform! :)

Not sure whether the acronym is still in use but JDI seems to be the way to go - Just Do It!

I've never liked the idea of signing a card, and I rarely do card tricks anyway. I use my JOL+ with an initialled coin.

We can't be friends anymore. I never do a card trick without a signed card. :D Kidding of course we can still be friends we all do things differently for different reasons and what works for one doesn't work for all. It is why I love magic.

Cardshark (Darwin Ortiz) has some great variations on CTW. See 'Pickup On South Street' and 'The Phantom Card' (see my review of the book for descriptions). 'The Dream Card' from At The Card Table is also a very nice variation. Each has a completely different plot and all the actions are motivated by said plot.
