Why not elaborate a little like exactly what is the issue you are having? You may find that we just don't give away secrets or direction on this site. There is a lot of info in various publications on the Slydini silks, from technique to routining to best silks to use.

To say the instruction provided are simply not enough is not going to get you a lot of responses.

Before I knew any better, I made the mistake of buying some "Golden Shells" from a website (not one I use now). These were not the School for Scoundrels ones I had expected, but a Magic Makers "knock-off", for want of a better expression. They didn't even work correctly.

I had a bit of an interest in the Slydini Silks several years ago and found it a bit "knacky". Sometimes everything worked like a dream, others, well, the knot stayed knotted! I was moving towards mentalism at the time and never got my technique down.

Bearing in mind the quality of the products from Magic Makers, it may be that the silks are not good enough, one of the silks might lack the "something" that is not essential, but useful, or it might just be that the basic instruction is inadequate. I'm afraid that sometimes in magic, you just end up buying something that doesn't do the job and you might have to buy, say, the World's Greatest Magic DVD (if your silks are OK, but the instruction is lacking) or perhaps Tony Clark's Sly Scarves, which includes the silks and instruction from one of Slydini's students (oh and Tony teaches other handkerchief routines too).

The MagicMakers silks are perfectly fine. As Reverend Lewis (that's Mark Lewis incase our newcomer is wondering who I'm talking about) has pointed out many times, the effect can be done with ANY hankies. The original Dissapearing Knot was done with a cotton handky - as was the original versions of the Five and Seven cornered hank. The Slydini type silks just make the method easier and work smoother.

As for the MagicMakers silks they are of the proper construction, have the contrasting thread and are exellent value for money. They are actually the very same hanks that Tony Clarke sells in his package. The thing is though - they are intended for those who already know the mechanics of the effect, hence they do not come with the Slydini routine. The effect in the scant instructions describe a similar method to the Slow Motion Dissolving Knot - the method is useless for the Slydini routine.

If you want to perform Slydinis routine you're going to have to make an additional purchase, of the actual routine. It may mean you end up with a spare set of hanks but if you end up using the effect regularly this won't be a bad thing.

The Knotted Silks is very reliable when you pay attention to detail and put in the practice - its not something you can learn within minutes and go out and use straight away. There are MANY subtleties to the routine.

There is a thread in the Restricted area in which I describe various ideas and subtleties which will help make the effect a success. There is however one tip I didn't write as its going to be a right pain to try and explain using text only. When I have time I may give it a try and hopefully I can get my point across.
