I have an effect that makes use of, among other things, an "out to lunch" (delivered using business cards either from my gaffed wallet or in the classic rubber-band way). What I'd like to do is to be able to "scale it up" for use in front of larger audiences or on stage. The ideal effect would be something like this:
- 1. The magician and a spectator go behind an easel, whiteboard stand, or similar - the magician draws something (not visible to the audience) which the spectator witnesses, and signs.
2. The magician brings the spectator to the front of the stage again - the back of the easel (or whatever) can be seen at all times by the audience.
3. [the magic happens; lots of stuff here - the out to lunch is only part of the larger effect]
4. The magician goes to the easel and pulls off the paper: it is revealed to show something else than what the spectator witnessed (relating to what actually happened in the meantime, like a prediction), but still bears the spectator's signature.
So: what I need is something that works LIKE an out to lunch, but BIGGER. You can't just scale up an out to lunch, at least not any way I can think of, without exposing the secret, so I guess what I'm looking for is something different but with similar properties. Obviously no secrets here in this forum, but has anybody seen a magician do something like this? Or can anybody think of a commercial gimmick that might do what I'm looking for? Thanks!
