In A Flash refil?

Postby Mujician » Feb 10th, '15, 15:53

Hi,
I've practiced loads with my In A Flash, and some of the cards are starting to wear out - I wondered if there was anywhere I could get more from. Obviously I don't want to buy a whole new DVD set again. Perhaps someone knows a way to make them? I did try contacting Sankey Magic about this but I had no response. Main reason for me asking is I don't like Blue cards! I've developed a bit of a card obsession since getting into magic and my favourite single colour are the green ones!

What do you mean by "wear out" I've used mine for over 6 months at over 50-60 gigs, and mine are not worn out??

You can possibly get card manufacturers to make the cards for you (copyrights permitting).
They do wear out Deano. Scorch marks etc, and after a while they'll get grubby down the sides

Residue marks left by flash paper build up over time. Constant card handling leaves them dull, and less manoeuvrable. I just opened a fresh deck of cards and they glide like angels compared to the deck I've had open for a while. Thats what I mean by wear out.

Scorch marks to me aren't a problem cos that's the idea of the effect, the regular cards though I just use an older deck to top them up so to speak, so the edges look the same.

Maybe a little grubier than a brand new deck but not a huge problem.

Cheers

Hey Buddy,

Sadly Jay didn't respond to me either when I needed the cards so I had to purchase the whole DVD set again when I needed to Refill. If you want them made in a custom backed deck then try to trace one of the h**** from your original worn out cards onto your new ones and slowly cut it out using a b****. Mods if thats too much info please remove the post.

Quite ashame that customers who have purchased the original effect just get ignored when needing refills.

To make your own, buy a coin punch tool. The same tool used for mounting coins in cards for collectors

That sounds like just the thing Jordan - but when i google for it - all I get is stuff to punch holes into coins! Any idea on the actual name of the tool, or any links?

Cards4magic do those punches and Hobbycraft stores sell them as well - Xcut Large Palm Punch Circle is at http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/xcut-large- ... 98356-1001 and they do a medium one as well. The stores have a range of these things in various shapes and sizes, including circles. I guess Amazon might do them, they seem to do everything! When I needed to punch a 1" hole in a card I took spare cards to the local Hobbycraft store and they let me try several punches. Takes quite a bit of effort to punch through a Bike card but you can also get adaptors which give extra leverage to help.

Prop dog sells a deck with 26 regular, 26 holey cards in it if you just need the cards.

Thanks, will have a look, but the main reason for asking was that I don't like the regular red and blue decks. I love the arty ones and different colours. I've got a whole load of different decks that I'dlike to do 'In a flash' with.

You could contact Dave at Propdog and ask if he can make you up a different backed deck? He's got a workshop on site.
