Floating Lightbulb

Postby jdleeds78 » Aug 24th, '16, 13:16

Hi all, I'm new here so not sure if this is even in the right forum but here goes anyway.

Many years ago I purchased a floating lightbulb illusion, the instructions I received with the "kit" where than of Taurus Supply Co. floating ball illusion except the ball was substituted for a very cheap looking plastic lightbulb.

My question is two-fold really;

a) does anyone know where I could purchase a good quality replacement bulb?
and
b) does anyone know where I could purchase a lightweight ball to use instead of the bulb?

Before anyone asks, yes I have googled it but am struggling a bit to find anything.

The back of the instructions state that if a replacement ball is needed then to return the existing one and a free replacement will be supplied.

Your choice of where to post is spot on!

Taurus Magic are still going, Derek Lever still in charge so you could try emailng and asking him direct. The website is http://www.taurusmagic.net/ but hopefully the folks here on TM will be able to offer more advice in due course.

Just curious, now we no longer have the old tungsten filament type of bulb in favour of the (vastly more expensive!!) LED and halogen types, does this cause problems with floating bulb effects?

Thanks Mandrake, I actually managed to email Taurus and they've said they no longer have them available so I'm back to square one unfortunately.

Would have thought the LED ones would make it slightly easier to be honest and would last a lot longer after all there is supposed to 10,000 hours worth of light from an LED.
