Abyss (Ultimate Coin In Bottle)

Postby jokerdan » Fri Jun 24, 2005 4:51 pm

The Effect
In Effect, the magician visually pushes a borrowed coin into an ordinary bottle. It is so visual people swear there must be a hole in the bottle......The next kicker is that the coin is completely normal as well....[both examinable yada yada]... finally, the best part, the coin is genuinly stuck inside....

Cost
£11.99 from www.magictricks.co.uk
(was on magicshop, but they seem to have removed it)

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review
For the 'ultimate' coin in bottle this is pretty easy to do and is a great effect, perfect for when you want to leave your client with something to remember you by. Basically, you can take out an ordinary bottle( glass or plastic), empty out its contents, and make a coin appear to penetrate through the bottom of the bottle, even with the cap on. you can clearly show the coin stuck and then you can slip your business card in there and let them search for holes

Overall
I'd say its a great trick, but for what it is its a little expensive. The guide is short but thorough. The demo video on magictricks doesn't give the full effect of the trick. You do need to supply your own bottle, but you can clearly show that it is empty by puuring out the contents, shaking etc etc. It's reasonable clean, and you'll need to find your own way of perfection. There are mane thing you can vary with this trick, I use a 'technique' from Penguin Magic's Pop-Up trick, althoguh it doesn't really make much difference unless your specs are really into the trick. you can also do the trick with contents in the bottle, although, when 'cleaning up' your hands are likely to get sticky :P
Just stick 'em up, wierdo.

If you have paypal, I can order one and send it to you upon receipt of payment. PM if you are interested

Its now available at Magictricks.co.uk now at £10.99, and they do international shipping, and its free if you order over £40, around the $85 mark. (even internationally)

Nice review by the way :)

Hi Guys

Just got this today, and im a little disappointed.

Im finding it hard to set up, those who have it will know why. So im resorting to the magic of boiling water as well  .

I think £10.50 is rather steep for what you get, but as with most things, it should pay for itself.

Mark

P.S. if anyone can give me some tips on easier set up then please PM me

This does *look* stunning, but I'd be slightly dubious about it's presentation in real world situations.

You guys should put some of your 'experiences' with this effect on this page... would be a really interesting read.

What I think is really nice about this one is the fact that the speccy gets an 'enigma' as a handout. Sweet.

But actually how examinable this is would be of concern to a working pro, surely?

Its examinable and the secret will never be found out. Its Uber-examinable!

The only problem i find is the initial set up is very hard, and if you are going to hand out the bottle as a souvenir, its going to take you a lot of man hours to make a few up.

If you have stock, why are you considering buying it?

Because if I don’t put some money in the account for it I wont be able to pay the manufacture the money, blimey its the same as owning a toy shop you can say ill give that tank engine to my son for Christmas, and not put any money towards it because that’s basically stealing. You need to give them that money somewhere.
