I don't find it particularly difficult to do but darn is it soggy when it comes out!

If it's still in the works and not out for sale then it isn't released

Personally, I can't see the point in performing magic with mobile phones, i.e. predictions and chosen cards etc. popping up on screens. People are too suspicious at the nest of times and I think that most specs would view this as a gimmick rather than a piece of good quality magic.

To be honest I think that a phone version of Silent Treatment would weaken this particular effect!

I recieved this effect at the end of last week and I have to say it is really great and the method easy.
I got the universal version of this where you fill the cards out yourself which I think is even better as I changed the script ever so slightly in order to fit into my performances.
As usual I was slightly surprised at the method but pleasantly so. I will practice this for a bit but cannot wait to try this infront of an audience.

fortunately i was lucky to get a chance to try out the mobile treatment before it came out. lets get one thing straight though, its no silent treatment. but it is almost fully impromptu. but it is still like what you said. it is a mobile trick, meaning it may not be as impressive. But if the trick is presented well enough, it can be pretty decent trick.

I tried buying the Silent Treatment directly from Jon.

Given the choice, I'd like to support the developer directly, and I thought I was being Good Sir Pete.

I paid for this trick almost two months ago.

Jon forgot to send it to me.

Then he went on holiday.

When he got back, he promised to get it posted asap.

Then there was a postal strike.

And now that I've waited through the strike and received the backdated mail, the Silent Treatment still isn't there.

I only got any attention from Jon on this matter when I opened a PayPal dispute, but allowed this to expire after its 20 days without escalating it because I was assured that the trick would be on its way. More fool me.

I'm sure the Silent Treatment is great, but my advice would be to buy it from a dealer!

Damn, that is really bad luck. The Silent Treatment, by Jon Allen. Kind of ironic, eh?

I have this effect...love it, its simplictiy, and an incredible opener.

However...for the first time in many performances I ran into a spec that paniced and forgot their card. For reason I can't explain in open forum (anyone that has the effect will know the pitfalls of forgotten cards or frozen specs) this wasn't a good situation...they named a card but not one I was "Prepared" to hear.

I had to cut the trick off, have a giggle and turn it into a comedy situation but then used my ID to finish it off so it still hit somewhat.

Anyone else run into a frozen/silent spec or a bad card choice? How did they handle and get around it....I have spoken to one other guy that has had the same thing so I am sure that there must be some thoughts out there on a recovery idea.

I like it when people revive old threads like that :)

Question - if I buy this trick, will I be able to make my own version in French, or any language I want basically?

I live in Czech Republic, and really don't speak the language very well at all, so it would be great if I could perform that in Czech for my girlfriend's familly, or in French back home.

Thanks
LP.

No problems with that, all you need to do is write your own cards keeping the text to a minimum. Jon used to sell blanks for that very purpose.

Silent Treatment is absolutely unattached to a specific language.
Creating your own version is no problem.

And just to back that up, a little earlier in this thread

Hiya,

As has been mentioned, I do sell a Universal Version. It is the same package except there are blank pages instead of the printed ones written in English. You can purchase it from www.close-upmagician.com in the 'Magicians Only' section.

The Universal Version comes with the translation into French as well as German, Spanish, Dutch and Japanese.

As for outs when someone names a 'foreign' card, I have never had this happen but an ID or BW is one option. I usually carry a bag full of folded cards so if anyone does 'go AWOL' I can simply take out the bag and drop the card in with all the others.

The ID was my solution...however can you elaborate on the last part of your comment..."I usually carry a bag full of folded cards so if anyone does 'go AWOL' I can simply take out the bag and drop the card in with all the others." for me...I am not sure I followed your thoughts there.

Also...while we have the "Jon Allen" with us, can you give us your thoughts on the group size you like to use this with (ideally) as well as the largest group you have used it with? I am struggling with how large a group I can go with...was thinking I could make my own larger cards and that would solve the issue but want to know your thoughts on performance sizes.
