This was the first Magic DVD I purchased last year and love the effect.

I tend to have several set ups ready to go so it can be a fairly impromtu illusion.

I got the basic handling procedure down within a few days but it took a heck of a lot of practice to become smooth and confident.

Did I dream it or is Torn Too being released this year?

Is torn able to be handed back out? I presume not but I maybe wrong.

After you restore it, you can hand it out right away. Why would you think other wise.

PickAnyCard wrote:This is one good card trick. Very visual. The only thing is that you must get the writing of the marker just on the side of the card... Is there any thoughts of that, does the spectator ask why only on the lenght side? I havent performed yet and just thinking if it is OK to do it without signature.

PickAnycard, you are clearly missing the point. The strength of the presentation relies on the fact that the card is signed to prove "conclusively" the card torn is the same one restored.

I watched Daniel perform and explain the handling at the South Tyneside convention and was blown away by the cleanliness of the restoration. If you have bought this routine, then please do not perform it until you can do it cleanly and smoothly. This is one of these effects that can easily suffer from the "I don't know what you did but I knew when you did it" syndrom.

I'm surprised that people are still commenting on my original review of this excellent effect.

Doesn't seem like 2+ years since I posted it!

Just to keep this topic going even longer;

I was looking for a good, visual T & R effect which can be examined or handed out and with the help of the people here I discovered "Torn" by Daniel Garcia. I got hold of my copy of "Torn" recently and it is an extremely clean and very visual T&R effect. Watching Mr. Garcia perform the effect is an eye-popping pleasure!

One if the things I really like about the efefect is how much the spectator gets to handle the card;

- They get to pick the card out of the deck and hand it to you.

- You then hand the card back for them to sign.

- Once you get the card back you proceed to tear it up into four clearly visible and separate pieces and then magically restore them one at a time, and the restorations are so visually stunning that I had to keep reminding myself to close my mouth while watching.

- And once you're done restoring the card you hand it back for them to inspect or even keep!

I'm still practising this one really hard and have only demonstrated it to my long suffering girlfriend so far but she was very impressed and didn't have a clue how it was done. I think that this awesome effect really does deserve the respect to practise it until you can do it blindfolded and when you reach that point keep practising some more until it's super silky smooth.

The moves themselves aren't that hard to learn (probably between 2 and 3) but a lot of time will need to be put in to do the effect justice.

What i do in my presentation is, I first sign the card on one length by myself and then tell the spectator to do the same on the other length. For me it makes more sense and to the spectator it leaves no other free space to write on.

With the right preparation beforehand, the spectator can always see a signature on the card.

BTW, great Effect, I just love it!!!

Actually I just remembered that there's a clip on the video of a torn and restorn corner of a card and it looks really stunning but it isn't explained.

Does anyone know how it's done and where I can lean this effect from as it would be great to combine that into a T & R routine?
