REVIEW FOR: Mindbender by Chad Sanborn

A good buy for the intermediate magician. This dvd has 3 effects that are real world workers.

The Holy Grail routine is a 3 phase coin routine using only 3 coins, gaffless and no extra coins, that has a production phase, coins across, and vanish of the 3 coins. It looks "Three Flyesque" and you end clean.
A routine worth learning.

Master Link is a rubberband effect. It is shown that 2 bands link together. In my own experiences, laymen aren't too impressed with this. It however fools magicians badly.

The Optical Bend is a powerful spoon bending effect that happens right under their noses. Needs a lot of practice to pull it off.

Overall, I liked the dvd. 8 out of 10

In my opinion this DVD was not worth the nothing I paid for it (borrowed from an equally disgruntled buyer) the production values range from tripe to ****e. Having owned Gerry and Banacheks video for a few years and gone through hundreds of forks trying it out I was always interested in new perspectives on metal bending, for instance Richard Osterland has a very nice handling for spoons and a rather nice multiple bend. Chad however manages to add absolutely nothing to the proceedings, instead he juts covers old ground, very quickly and poorly.

Before buying this DVD ask yourself why it comes with the three bonus effects? (not that they are really anything new either)

If you want to bend metal either A: invest in a training course from Uri Geller and spend the rest of your life chanting and saying "bend" whilst staring intently at a piece of cutlery.

Or B: go and buy Gerry and Banacheks Video Psychokinetic Silverware, get yourself down to your favourite discount supplier and buy 500 forks and practice. Before long you will be able to bend anything, anytime, very convincingly.

2/10 Utter rubbish.

And so it goes with reviews

You can't win'em all.

Its been along time since that material was released. Probably about 8-10 years ago. I knew nothing of the business of selling magic, as I am a performer and not a seller of this stuff.
I was approached after doing this at conventions, and asked if I would like to sell it on dvd. Being young and naive, I said yes. No control of the shooting conditions, editing, or any real input at all. Most everything I wanted to do didn't get done. Even the name wasn't what I wanted. But their wasn't much I could do. Lesson learned. When your name is on the line, get everything under your control and in writing!

So here I am about 10 years later, reading a mix of reviews. Good and bad.
Not sure if I should be upset or if I should just let it go. Mostly I choose to just let it go. After all, it doesn't matter what they say about you in the papers as long as they spell your name right.

Don't worry Chad, those comments are over 3 years old and, as there were no supporting posts after it, I suspect were rather unique and unrepresentative. Anyway, welcome to TM :D !
