Now for the review.

I've not really done much with flourishes before being a bit of a meat and potatoes Magician. (Thats Derbyshire talk for doing the magic and not showing off with fancy stuff. i'll leave that to londoners  ).
So i cracked open a deck of Tally hos and off i went. Some of the flourishes are a bit confuzing and not explained greatly even with the multi speed/angle views but after watching for a while they start to come a little clearer.

out of the 18 slieghts i would start off with the werm as i found this one the easiest to master but if you are used to doing flourishes and are after some new ideas then this is a must DVD for you.

DAN AND DAVE BUCK I SALUTE YOU.

Same here...I almost bought it but finally I decided not to because of the fact that there were no words in it...that really annoys me .

If you want a good flourish DVD, I've heard only good things about the XB DVD...

XB and The System's style of flourishing is completely different. However, I got both. Well... still waiting for my XB to arrive but...

It is fairly hard to learn the moves in the System because of the teaching, actually, there is NO teaching. The teaching is just slow motion versions of the moves.

Because of the fact that there is no teaching, it is hard to learn the knacks such as the deck flip (T.G. Murphy style) and revolution cut. The revolution cut is a major aspect for most of the cuts in the System.

Werm was actually a problem for me when learning because of the angles shown. It was hard to see where the packets came from.

Overall, I give this DVD 7/10. I only gave it a high rating because of the moves and the sleekness of every move.

It's a pity that Dan and Dave incurred so many complaints about their DVD by not including words. It would have been so easy to record audio with the cuts and that would, according to the comments I've heard, make it a great DVD.

I have both the dan and dave system and XB. I find the main problem with flourish dvd's the angle at which the moves are shown. It is almost always from the perspectice of the spectator and not that of the performer . I don't know about you guys but I find this extremely difficult to follow as I have to transpose all the moves to my perspective. This was the main problem for me with dan and dave. Indeed I found that watching the dvd on my laptop and turning the screen upside down made it a lot easier to follow!
XB does have most moves shown from the performers angle and therefore is much easier to follow. I also have 'showoff with cards' and I know its not popular as it rips of many moves without credit but it is undoubtedly the easiest dvd to follow as every move is performed slowly from the performers point of view ie as if you were holding the cards in front of you. the moves are also repeated with clear plastic blocks so you can appreciate the intracacies of finger placement. I easily learned the basic mechanics of Sybil in only a few viewings with this technique. If dan and dave was filmed like this it would have been a doddle to follow and to get the basic motion and mechanic of each move down. as it is each move has to be watched several times with supreme concentration so you can work out what is going where, what finger is doing what and also transpose each move. A lot to do when watcingn these complex moves.

I always reversed the image because I'm right handed! If you're left handed, I would've thought that the videos would be good. I found it easier to learn reversing it with a program I use.

Athough De'vo does not speak also in his videos, he clearly shows how each move is done in different angles and it is explained with words. The System however does not contain words at all and it is basically a slow version of the real cut and that's how you learn it.

Pasteboard Animations can be useful though for some of the cuts in the DVD.

actually I am left handed and I do not find it any harder. But then again I make sure to learn any cut both ways.

but back to the original question, does anyone know where all the "secret" rooms and footage are located on the DVD's?

i know devo doesnt have talking in his stuff yeah but i dunno, it jus felt easier to do his stuff. like his table false cut, that took me minutes before i got it down. i have the dan and dave system and i got to say some of the stuff s good, and some of tem i cando, but it really sucks when it comes to the teaching

The thing is that in the System, there is NO teaching. Whereas De'vo teaches his moves without verbally teaching you..

Get the system def.

There are two version of Tudors product, Generation X, and Generation Extreme.

The first has some cool stuff but very baaad teaching, the newer version is exactly the same material taught better (slightly).

Don't know your skill level but I'd say go with the system.
