Best ever trick for a bar/niteclub

Postby eakin » Oct 14th, '05, 14:04

Hey guys
can any of you recommend your favourite tricks for bars/niteclubs??

I have the trick that you can have 2 coins(10p/2p) and one disappears.
It is absolutly fantastic and so easy to pull off

also have the raven, its very usefull as well, tho I can only preform the up the sleeve move as the others are tricky enuf to perform

I seena trick on tv last night, with two elastic bands, and the guy could make one pass through another one, looks fantastic, anyone know where to buy this?

thanks

the rubber band effect is called "Crazy mans handcuffs" and can be found in most online magic stores

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

Have a look at 'Jiggernaut' - there's a Review from a while back http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic1522.p ... jiggernaut but it's available from UK sources these days. It's a cups and balls type routine but it uses (fake) olives, wine corks and a normal double ended jigger as used for measuring spirits. Absolutely ideal for a bar environment!

I'd be looking for somethign a little more subtle...
Like I regulary walk over to hot girls and show them the disappear coin trick, they love it

might look like an eegit if I'm pulling cups out of my pocket in a niteclub... hehe

any other discreet tricks that are good?

Jiggernaut is probably best suited to be perfomed by the bartender as he's most likely to have the props readily to hand. I wouldn't rate it very highly in terms of being a babe magnet though. Mentalist effects might be more suited and they can get you get close up as well  !

If you want to make sure you are performing good Nightclub magic make sure whatever you perform is very very visual. The problem with Nightclubs is that they are noisy, smoky and full of drunken people. The magic should be close up and interactive but avoid tricks which depend on the magic happening in their hands. By this I mean that if you are going to change a card in somebody's hand make sure they aren't going to ruin the trick by turning the card over early. Also, all of your magic should happen in the hands. Don't use effects which rely on table space because there won't be any. Complex plots should be avoided too for obvious reasons. Go for it and let us know how it goes.

All the best,

Do some research on tricks with a cigarette....they are readily available in bars and nightclubs, and you can do tons of things with them!

D'lites are perfect. Go up to the bar and pull some light off the coke tap thinggy then play! I've had great fun with D'lites when dancing, they look great, a bit like glow sticks but push them through your head!

I'll also say that mentalism type tricks are a bad idea, coz they don't even remember what they were thinking of anyway!

Yeah as Goldfish says, go with very visual tricks...

I went to a party at a nightclub a couple of weeks ago and did a lot of magic :D tricks that went down well for me were jokers wild, ambitous card , card changing in there hand and colour changes and I did card to pocket a few times. Also chicago opener just did visual stuff where i did not need to talk much.

You don't need to since you "read thei mind" to get waht you want

But yes there are a few memory problems you need if you are going to do something like "progressive anagrams" or mathematical things.

Though why you would want to impress someone with maths

(why am I rolling my eyes I'm practically a "maths Genius" in school. I hate being the teachers pet)

But how will they know you've been able to read their mind if they've forgotten what they were thinking of??

Magician: "You were thinking of the 4 of diamonds"
Spectator: "Was I?!"

any more suggestions of visual tricks?

The raven and the 10p/2p coin trick are along the lines that I'm looking...
I'll have to do a bit of research into cigrette tricks, theres the obvious one of pushing the cigrette through the modififed coin, not overally fussed on this one tho...
