What do you think of this plan?

Postby TylerD » Dec 8th, '05, 23:56

Well there is this girl I somewhat like in my school and I have never talked to her before ive just heard about her from her friends. Telling me what she is like etc... So I was thinking a good way to talk to her is by doing a magic trick. I would hate to go up to her and just say hey it might be somewhat aukward. So anywho what do you guys think? If I just went up to her and said hey you look bored do you want too see a magic trick or something??? By the way she has a twin sister haha. But oh well. I go up too alot of random ppl and do magic tricks. So I was thinking this might be a good thing to do and then spark a convo during some of my tricks....Any feedback would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

Lol .. why not go for it bud ... i wouldn't say "You look bored" though ... probably wouldnt sit well ... you might as well say "cor, thats not a a pretty face" ....

Get yourself a copy of "Firestarters" by Jay Sankey, there was a spate of DVD's on the market a while back purly aimed at impressing girls ... they should serve you well.

Tyler,

Get an ESP deck, they will come with a few effects you can do.

Tell her that you can see that she has superior brain power (women all believe they have :? ) And ask her to participate in an experiment, NO, not the one where you take her to your bedroom

Perform one of the effects that come with your ESP deck and explain that for the mental mind generative thought processes to effectively amalgamate and enable complete mind unison you need to hold her hand. Works every time 8)

well, being a magician (horrible speellinngs :D ) requires you to goto random people, unless you just want to show you're friends. if i were you, i would wait until she is in a group of friends and show them stuff. but if you already know her, i would go up to her and do some tricks one on

First, be yourself! What ever you do, don't act unnatural and out of your normal character. You want to act confident and if performing to her in a group, you must control the group. Add humour, girls like humour as much as compliments but don't over do it. It's a fine balance. Generally watch some performers on TV and pick up on some tips by noting how they interact with an audience such as noting their approach, manners, body language etc.

The worst that can happen is that she knocks you back but we all have that in our lives from time to time.

Girls like simple and uncomplex tricks so make sure that what you're doing is short but has impact.

If you go up and perform when the girl is in a group, don't forget to start by introducing yourself and then ask for each of their names. Shake hands with each person in the group. Select the target girl you want to cut the cards, select a card etc. so the magic happens in her hand and nobody elses. You can get away with outrageous things when you're performing so perhaps if it's gone well, kiss her hand when you finish.

Do no more than three tricks, ask her what she thought and then get her number.

How I wish I was 16 again (sigh)

Well im 18 lol but Regina has slow schooling. This is my last year. The thing is I have never met her before. So I will go up to her in a group of friends. I like that idea :D By the way Tenko was is a ESP deck?? I feel like an idiot asking that. Because I have been doing magic for a long time and I thought I knew of most decks. Anywho one trick I was thinking of doing is going up to them because they are twins and asking them if they think alike. Then force the 4 aces on them. Having one pick ace of clubs and ace of diamons and the other ace of hearts and ace of spades. Then do a couple others. I really want to do some that involves them both. Not like the 2 card monte haha or like Royale with cheese so to speak. Hmmmmmm have to put some thought into this. By the way this has nothing to do with this subject but does anyone know if the mene tekel deck is any good or not??? Penguin doesnt have it in stock. But I did find a site that does have it.

hmmm, it sounds like you want a trick that involes them alot, instead of you doing all the handling. i would reccomend getting sankey's firestarters or get a decent routine with what you know (put basic penguin magic stuff toghther).

noones mentioned the obvious yet... "could you sign this card with something i would never know.... your phone number"

bingo!

or do some magic from her friends, impress them, then they will go back to her and say "hey, he can do some cool magic, come and see" hey presto, already got the friends approval!

Yeh - that's all great, but if you know her friends, why not go up to her when she is with her friends, chat to them, then ask her name, and introduce yourself, and then - just talk to her about music or something. I reckon if you really like her, you may have the tendency to mess up the magic.

I'd leave the magic to one side, personally and show her yourself - not your performing character. They are different.

i agree with jing. magic is just a added extra. just start talking to her, then be like "hey wanna see something cool?" then do your thing

Well I dont know any of her friends at all. She is a bit younger then me. At my school it is a bit aukward for people when you go up to someone and start talking to them out of the blue. They look at you wierd lol. I dont know why thats just how some people are. Thats why magic is perfect. I highly doubt I would screw up. I mean its possible. But i will do ones that will amaze her but in the same way be farelly easy or easy enough I wont screw up. I was thinking about going up to her and doing the ID then going down from there. By the way does anybody know what the Mene Tekel deck is?
