Patter discussion area

Postby Discombobulator » Dec 20th, '05, 14:23

Can I suggest a discussion area devoted to 'patter' advice.

Discussion could include:
topical throw-away comedy lines
funny things that audiences have said
best responses to common questions (I have seen a few already on this site)
areas/traps to avoid when ad-libbing
what to say if something goes wrong, etc.
Dealing with hecklers, abuse, know-it-alls

Yep .. this sounds like a nice idea, it'll make for entertaining reading, we occasionaly see the odd thread along these lines pop-up in the misc section.

yeh, seconded! good idea.
i found a nice out the other day when someone caught me out during a trick; they caught me at a point during a ACR when i handed them the card, so i pointed to my left, said "look", then scurried off to the right giggling like a child. good thing they found it funny too

Great idea, this is a particular interest of mine.
Although, I can foresee an initial debate about whether it should be referred to as patter or not.

We seem to have some support for this idea. I have carried out a search, but can find no information on the next steps for proposing a new forum.

Can someone either point me towards the appropriate link or advise me of the process? :?

It is a regular request to have a new part of the forum devoted to a particular topic. If it was done each time the forum would now be a huge mess. I suggest starting a thread on the subject in the general forum. If the thread has a lot of response over a period of time then a special part of the forum would be something more likely to happen. No doubt this is a good subject but I'm not convinced that enough useful posts would be written to justify having it's own space.
