Nothing better than a trick done well...

Postby KamaKase » Dec 25th, '05, 22:38

...which is why this isn't a video of me. :D

Anyways, I found this on my travels and wasn't sure if any of you would've seen it. I must say, the first trick is a little dubious, the second exceedingly impressive...but the third is just......hmmmm.....I'm not sure.

Enjoy!
(ps it's 8 mins long.....but quite worth it!)

Pretty darn impressive, thought they were all pretty sexy tricks - cept that last bit @ the end - although unbelieveable, seems 2 detract from the effect a bit :S i dont know - mabey its just me - what do others think?

Overall id love 2 learn that routine, but have never heard/seen anything like that before

All the best

Happy hols

Alex

Well, be honest with yourself..... do you think he could do this in YOUR house, and on YOUR table?

even so, i would really like to know the gimmick that is used. Very impressive. im sure even if you did know the secret it woud still be surprising as it seems so surreal.

In this case, I think I wouldn't call it a gimmick....

I think that it could be a gimmicked coin that he uses, but the table must have something up with it if he can pass a salt shaker through it :?

Suddenly, "close-up-magic" isn't "close-up" anymore.... When I talk to people and they ask me what kind of magic I do, I say "Close-up", and explain why. And I tell them why I prefer close-up:

Close Up Magic is for me the best magic around. Imagine, magic and mysterious things happening just infront of your eyes, with no suspicious light settings or half naked assistants running around. You can see what happens but you can't understand how or why. It's there, maybe just 30cm infront of you. A card floats. A card disappairs. A coin vanishes. A coin reappears. Or any other items suddenly have mysterious abilities. Pure sleight-of-hand magic. Could it get any better?

Now, taking this into consideration, and watching Cyril, I find this close to non-close-up. Or, uh, well, it IS close-up, but not the kind of close-up I prefer. He could never do this in any room, at least not on my glass table in the living room. Yeah, it looks awesome, and the effect is probably great and a killer, but again, for me this is not within the borders of what I call close-up. But that's personal...

Yeah i have to agree with you Rune, whilst this is an amazing effect and well performed ... the reactions were not all that strong, i've seen an audience make more noise watching an ACR routine.

"cept that last bit @ the end - although unbelieveable, seems 2 detract from the effect a bit :S"

I agree. There's just something "not right" about it.

"do you think he could do this in YOUR house, and on YOUR table?"

Probably not, but even so. I'd say the way it's been set up is pretty impressive. The people have just been eating on that table.

"Things passing through things" have always been the tricks that amaze me the most ....because there's only two main principals that it can possibly be, but they're always covered up so well. It's probably the most infuriating of magic.

I agree. He is good to watch, but that cannot be done anywhere.

He isn't really a close-up magician, he is really a stage-close-up magician

First of all, I reject to comment comments like this:

cept that last bit @ the end - although unbelieveable, seems 2 detract from the effect a bit :S

Talk normal dude, get a life, get rid of your day-care center slang.

Secondly, things passing through things, are great, I agree. But they do not need to be such difficult and require such a setup. Take rubberbands, cups&balls and matches for instance. Those effects are great, and can be done whenever, wherever, and you will get a better wow response thatn Cyril did on this effect.
