This is the problem with CUPS it's as contagious as a pigeon with a runny nose...

Because of my CUPS I buy a card sword, don't use it much so decide to sell it, this inspires PcWizme to sate his CUPS buying it from me which in turn tempts me to sate my CUPS buying a 2nd hand Ripper deck and the aforementioned Electric Touch unit. The owner of the shop I brought the unit from then has more funds to advertise his other wares on the internet and will no doubt tempt me or one of my fellow sufferers with some other delightfully attractive goodies.

Where will it end I ask?

By the way PcWizme, I used to do LARP too, could that explain the card sword thing I wonder?

Well I'm broke at the moment, hence not buying anything, so I'm afraid rationally you guys have to buy more to keep the entire magic business afloat...

I'm sorry, but it's the only way, unless you want all the magic shops to go bust, and everybody to have to buy stuff from penguin.

I took a deep breath, I tried to look around for all my magic DVD's and previous purchases I haven't used but they are all packed away cause I'm moving house.

I think I will wait a bit and attempt to resist otherwise I may find myself single very quickly. How many times have I succommed to C.U.P.S and my g/friend has asked where a new trick has come from when I've said I wasn't buying anymore for awhile.

And to think I gave up Djing because buying records was costing too much!!

I am glad though that this C.U.P.S support group has been set up to share the hurt! All we need now is some tea in polystyrene cups and some custard creams

You know you have CUPS bad when you intend spending £50 and end up spending £500

greedoniz : Spooked is well worth the money, i have had it since it was first released (vhs version) and is worth every penny. I use it nearly all the time. I hate leaving it out of any performance.

The way it always works for me is that I "need" one item, but then if it's an online shop, it doesn't qualify for free shipping unless I add a couple of other things. and after all, I can always use a few more decks, and another DVD of rubber band magic, and while I'm getting those, I should probably get a supply of decent bands, plus of course I need some special cards, and another book teaching me how to use them.

Starts off as £10, and I end up spending £60

With bricks and mortar shops that justification doesn't work, but I always figure that as I've travelled a way to get there, I should get a few items in case I don't get back there for a while.

If only I didn't need all this stuff... but my life would simply not be possible without it.

Tell me about it. I wanted to try out the new USPCC Stripper Deck. Did I buy one deck at £6.50? No I bought bloody THREE! I even rationalised it to myself as being that I would only have to spend once on shipping! :x

My god, I've only just remembered, I bought a set of 8 stage-sized linking rings off ebay last month as they looked nice.

I never intend to go near a stage. I have no possible use for them. They cannot be justified in any way, but they looked good, and somehow I ended up owning them.

That is surely the sign of CUPS gone mad - when you get stuff that you rationally know you cannot use.

(If it's confession time, I bought a collapsible Top Hat which doesn't fit me, which I don't and won't use for anything magical - but it looks so damned good  !)

It's obvious now that the CUPS support forum is a pointless idea, as almost everyone has it. Why not just treat the entirety of TM as a support forum, and just add a small seperate section for the 2 people who don't suffer from it. :D

I can imagine the posts on the non-CUPS forum.

"I feel a duty to buy some magic stuff, but I really can't be bothered as there's nothing around that interests me at the moment. Please help"

Ooooh Mandrake I completely understand the top hat thing. I'm currently fighting the craving to buy a proper bowler hat which will cost at least 70 quid.
I think I'd look right Dapper in one but all my friends as Missis have all said they will not be seen around me if I wear one about!
Some people have no style....unfortunately it's me

This kind of blatant form of advertising should not be allowed on this CUPS support thread! Who are you, the devil? Where is your heart man? Didn't you read anything? greeedoniz is broke and his Mrs is going to leave him if he doesn't deal with his CUPS problem. There are a lot of vulnerable sufferers who visit this thread as a desparate attempt to hang onto a couple of pounds and whatever sanity they have left. So please be kind Sir, have mercy, and post your ill fated words on a review where it belongs!

This is a place where we come for a breath of fresh air, to admit to our wrong doings and thoughtless purchases and most of all to offer moral support to other sufferers.

Now who's looking after the Tea and cake? :)

I might be joining you soon my friend; as my Missis is arriving from Sydney tomorrow and I am frantically trying to make some room at the rear of my cupboard so I can hide my latest purchases.
