Blindsided by Oz Pearlman

Postby DavMac » Wed Jul 04, 2007 10:15 pm

This is my first review so any feedback on the format and info provided would be appreciated. Thanks.

The Effect

A selected card is found in the deck by the magician.

However, it is the wrong card, by "changing the ink" on the card it changes into their selection.

Whilst the selected card is in the spectator's hand being inspected the deck changes colour in the magician's hand.

The spectator is left with a blue/red backed card whilst the magician is left with a red/blue deck.

Cost

$9.95 16 minute instructional download from www.penguinmagic.com

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

3 - the pass and a rarely used move (in my opinion). I think it would be exposure if I named it here but it's not difficult.

They say

"From the mind of Oz Pearlman comes one of the most shocking FULL-DECK color changes ever invented. This is not a camera trick. This is not an impractical once-in-your-lifetime effect.

Blindsided was born for restaurant and party gigs. It's a highly-practical, visually stunning effect that's well motivated and fun to perform.

* Great opener
* Instantly repeatable
* Perfect for restaurant and party gigs

Download Blindsided today. Once the deck has changed colors before their eyes... your spectators will never look at pick-a-card tricks the same way again!"

Review

"From the mind of Oz Pearlman..." haha!! (sorry!)

The demo and download quality is good but it's what you'd expect from this company.

The download does detail all of the moves and the instruction is clear and easy to follow.

"Great opener" I agree.

"Instantly repeatable" um... not exactly reset is quick as it is a case of putting the cards back in the box to but why repeat an opener for the same group?

"Perfect for restaurant and party gigs" once or twice.

Overall

Anyone with a reasonable knowledge of card sleights or a copy of RRTCM (book or DVD or both!) could work out a better way of doing this or come up with their own version. With the right misdirection and timing this could be accomplished with a deck switch, a free selection, card control and no other 'fancy' moves.

Out of 10... 6

Spend your money on another coloured deck and work out how to switch decks.
