The Destiny Effect By Michael Kras

Postby crozboz » Sat Apr 05, 2008 11:10 pm

OK, here is a nice little effect.

A deck of cards is spread out and the spectator is asked to name any card in the deck. That card is found and put on the table. The rest of the deck is turned over to reveal that each card has a name written on the back.

The spectators named card is turned over to reveal the Spectators own name!

A nice little effect with a method that has been used in the past for other similar ideas, but never something as ingenious as this.

No TT writers or swamis, no r & s, no psychological forces.

It's clean.

Might be going on sale for about $10 in PDF form.

Overall - 7/10

I hate to say it, but I think MICHAEL KRAS might have come up with something good here - I can see myself using it :(

You make up your own deck and simply add the gimmick on.

You can really feel like youve connected personally with the spec in this trick.

I hate to admit it - but its a good trick, with a practical method.

Michael Kras has come up with a good trick

I have not had a chance to try this out yet, but I have taken a read of the manuscript. There are a couple of conditions that need to be met to preform this, but realistically the opportunity for this will pop up a good few times at even a small gig.

Now, from what I have read, the effect is pretty simple to do (Providing that the above conditions are met of course) and has the potential to be properly mind blowing.

At this stage (Like I said I have not tried it in the field yet) I would be inclined to agree. Mike has come up with a good, workable and salable effect.

Very true.

I feel priveledged to be one of the "10 people or so" to have read it.

Doesn't seem too bad.
What are the problems that bring it down to a 7?
Besides the obvious.

Well, I think that with 20,000 names in the world - you only need to carry - hmmmm.... 385 differently named decks of cards - and remember which name is where for this trick to work 100% of the time.

Oh. Well that could be a potential problem.

Yeah, but alot of those names are old - zephania, moses, jesus etc.

And some rather abstract names which you are fairly unlikely to come across, like cresalia, keir, piers etc.

3 decks should set you happily for one night im sure.

Can the spectator's named card be examined by the spectator?

Weeeell...no.

But the climax usually happens when you turn it over by picking it up.

The rest of the deck can be examined but you pretty much have to put the named card back into your pocket or deck, which is a shame, as I think something like that would be an excellent souvenir - (there is a 52 to 1 chance that they could examine it)

It can be in my Oracle trick, which achieves the same end result. I use it to give a souvenier card away.
Plug. Plug.
