Insane Coin in Bottle (Plastic or Glass) - Never seen before

Postby claesmagic » Tue Oct 14, 2008 11:51 am

I just got in contact with a guy in the USA, he has invented an excellent principle for a fantastic Coin in Bottle-routine:

Imagine walking into a bar: borrow a bottle, borrow a coin, let someone sign it and two seconds later the signed coin penetrates the wall of the sealed and un-opened glassbottle, with the liquid still inside!

You just have to watch the video here:

it looks awesome I have to say - the air bubbles when the 'coin enteres the bottle' are kind of giving me some ideas about how it COULD be done, but (Heavily depending on the price) I'd buy this :)

Dan

Nice work on the trick though - should get a better promo vid made, you might get some interested sites

From what I know, the guy Cameron that released this effect is now working on DVD's.

I also just found out that you can buy both effects online as "Instant Downloads" (mpg-files I think) directly from Cameron for around USD $20-25 per trick, if you visit http://fletchermagic.bigcartel.com

There are so many of these out now.

Its hard for anyone to make up there mind which is the best version.

This does look good though If it does what it says it does.

Of course something is FAKE. Nothing wrong with that.
FAKE is a given. Let's get over ourselves about that. That does not make something bad. We all smell fake. Of course something is FAKE. We already know that.

Blurting out that you think something must be fake just makes you a "hater" (I think that's what they're called these days). No need to be a hater. It's distracting and unproductive.

What IS important is that the method is practical for a given performer.

Is it practical for my type of work. Which means easily resettable so it can be used over and over again at a strolling type gig or for a parlor setting where I don't need to keep buying things over and over again.

Of course something is FAKE. Nothing wrong with that.

Prohibition close up

Postby claesmagic » Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:24 am

Yes I really have to agree, Prohibition is by far the most useful and best impromptu routine when performing walk around magic.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

May I ask where you are based? I was on your site and quite liked some of the items, but could not find anything about your location, etc.

i've gotta agree with fstarsinic (" FAKE is a given. Let's get over ourselves about that") about this effect. As the viewers on youtube have commented, this effect appears to be 'fake', because the illusion is too perfect, if it does indeed obey the borrowed and signed claims of its creator.

But rather than dismiss it as fake, it is much more interesting to consider how this has been achieved, and try to expand our ideas of methods. Lets not close doors to new inventions

Every magic trick IS a fake!

Yes, every single magic trick is based on one fake or another, unless you are a very serious voodoo professor, sticking needles and pins into voodoo dolls, living on Jamaica, drinking rum...

The main question is: are those YouTube viewers "active magic performers" themselves, or are they just viewers (the audience sitting watching the magic trick)? That's the question you have to ask yourselves.

If they are part of the audience, not knowing anything about magic handling, sleight of hand and similar things, then they are entitled to have any opinion about "how fake" it is or looks - If they, on the other hand, would be performing magicians, then they would have to know better.

Look at this from different angles here folks, do not forget that we are the performers of magic, not the audience watching us. Looking "fake" or not - isn't the cleanliness and the handling of magic tricks what we all are looking for? Being an active magic performer for 26 years, that is at least what my experience tells me.
