mr jungle here's a few ideas:-

ajust your own name for example my uncle alan farrel becomes aliz farrelie.

add "the great" to your name.

pick a name that reflecs your primery magic style, cardini, colin coin, sponge bob squarepants, or ali bongo, not forgetting magicdiscoman.

get weired, deciple of apppocalips, draken the dark, gandalf the wise, marvin mindspike.

mystical, ne var forget, jason forget (pronounced forje), mindweesel.

funny, card dropper, mr funjourer, bad majic, dont panic.

what style do you do i think you said street someware so you colud consider, blaines desciple  , mirage, mystic traveler, magic motion, druid, happy hobbo and motionblur.

My real names Ben Woodling (bring on the woody woodpecker jokes)
But i have the nickname of "Bean" so im thinking about maybe encorporating this?

Ok guys shoot your namely wisdom at me!
Thanks alot for the help so far, its got the ball rolling! :D

My twopennies worth
I know that this is not what you are after so forgive me. I had a look at the line up for the Blackpool convention to see about stage names and found that most of the big names do not seem to use "grand" stage names.

Wayne Dobson, Rene Levand, Henry Evans, Paul Gertner, Jason Latimer, Carl Cloutier, Bob Fitch, Takamitsu Uchida, David Ginn, Billy McComb, Boris Wild, Norbert Ferre, Tony Stevens, Terry Seabrooke, Brian Sefton, Richard Williams, David Penn, Neville king, Roger Drew, Ron Popple, Joe Tracini, Mark Raffles, Jon Archer, Roy davenport, ,Michael Pearse, Mark Taylor are all apearing.

also not appearing at Blackpool but I remembered Michael Ammar, Paul Daniels, David Williamson, Michael Vincent, David Copperfield, Ben Harris, Lance Burton, Juan Tamariz etc....the list could go on...

Now these could be stage names but they seem fairly simple ones.

I would suggest that you adopt the KISS principle and Keep it simple!!!

I know these performers have simple names but they all seem to have a certain "ring" to them, and if they dont i guess they obtain a stage name that does?. I just dont think my name has that, or am i just being paranoid?

thanks John

hi hasbean entertaining

when you get to the stage of fame like thease guys then you can use your own name I'm sure a lot of the names today started out as performers through pedigree or through magic societies and equity, some by way of producing magic for sale.
not buy the route most of us will inevitably go down that being comercial in nature were you need a name that sticks in peoples memory.

true the trend is to use your real name or something similar think cilla black (precilla white) with a character gimmick, copperfield, dobson, derren brown and blaine, but this dosn't translate to the market place well, who would you rather hire like for like jason packer or the exstrodinary jay packerellie

lean bean woodling sounds pretty cool for a street performer especialy if you can add a bit of closeup magic were you turn a fat bean into a lean bean, easy bit of palming this 8)
