Review: The Wit and Wisdom of Mark Lewis

139 Pages - It's witty and it's full of wisdom. These are the ramblings of Mark Lewis on Internet forums. Irreverent and funny at times and full of deep thinking about magic and mentalism at other times.

Many incredible anecdotes of his varied life as a fortune teller, magician and hypnotist. In addition to this are techniques described on how to pitch svengali decks, how to do psychic readings, and most important of all how to do magic with showmanship and verve.

Included is a video clip of his legendary svengali deck routine which he has performed all over the world thousands of times plus tips on how to sell the deck.

Further included are a few of his most cherished children's entertainment routines including the fantastic Bongo Hat sequence for which he has become famous among children's entertainers everywhere. This routine alone is worth the price of the book. Enjoy!

Overall
Note to the Mods and readers of this Review: Sometimes the truth hurts and we should protect others from what some people may see as a scam however others may not see the book in that light, this review is in my own words good or bad it’s a review edit as you wish the contents that my be to offensive for this site.

Let my first say that I buy E books when I have read a review on the book. I then print out any useful information for my 12 year old son and keep it all in a neat little folder for him to look back on if he gets stuck with a trick. Or I may need to refer to the book for something I need to know.

I did not read any reviews on this book but still purchased it to my disappointment. I fail to see what this book has to do with Magic at all it’s a Hustlers book on how to con people and that’s the Long and Short of it. Wit and wisdom? I fail to see any only that the Author and the site that has produced the book and having a good laugh at us for buying it. I feel I have been a victim of a hustler more fool me I’ll wait for reviews next time.

If you need to know more please ask I will expand if need be.
Take care all

You sir are a Welshman and as such your opinion is of no value whatsoever. Of course this only applies to Welshmen who don't like my book. Any Welshmen who do like it are sterling fellows.

However you are entitled to your valueless opinion if in fact you have purchased the book. I have a suspicion that you haven't. I smell a rat here. Let me call it a gut feeling.

However if in fact you have spent your money you ain't getting it back. No refunds. That'll teach you not to buy things from pitchmen.

Now to say that the book has nothing to do with magic shows that you haven't read it and it makes me think your review is not genuine and has been written for malicious reasons since I have many enemies of which you are obviously one. There are THREE top class routines for children's entertainers in the book any one of which is worth far more than $15. The Bongo Hat routine alone is worth many times the price of the book.

I have given priceless information on how to sell svengali decks. The info alone can earn you thousands of dollars. And it has everything to do with magic. It may have escaped your notice but the svengali deck is a magic trick.

There is lots of advice on how to present magic in an entertaining and engaging manner. I get a psychic vibe that "deck" is in dire need of it and I suggest he REALLY buys the book and stops pretending that he has done so.

I rather think that the review by David Ben on the Genii board has far more credibility than yours. Once I find it I shall let you read it in all it's glory.

Upon investigation it appears that you are not a Welshman after all. You are from Yorkshire which is of course even worse. Now I know you didn't buy my book. People from Yorkshire have never been known to spend money.

I would suggest to Mr Deck that he vents his frustration on the Magic Cafe. I am banned there so he can vent freely. They do have a review section on e-books there. I would suggest however that he actually reads the book first. It is very difficult to fully get through a book within 15 minutes of buying it.

You might as well actually READ the book if you have in fact purchased it. You ain't getting any money back so you may as well make the most of it.

Hm, you've just given a raging egomaniac (who feels you insulted him and called you one of his "many enemies") your name and address. . .

We'll make sure the authorities are notified if you suddenly stop posting ;)

Thanks for the review.

I've not read Mark Lewis's book, but I have looked at his website.

There's a video there of him demonstrating the svengali deck. The best comparison I can make is the following: Imagine if Paul Daniels was rubbish...

Although I could just be saying that as a reaction to the "Yorkshire" jab... No, wait, I watched it again... I was right.

I can assure Mr Dreck that I am delighted that he has reviewed my wondrous book. The twit doesn't realise that he has played into my hands. I have been waiting for this for ages. As for his transaction ID I have no evidence of such and even if I had I would say I hadn't.

Furthermore I can prove he hasn't read it. I get a psychic vibe that he made his review within minutes of receiving the book that I say he didn't receive. That alone is proof of his malevolent intentions. It is NOT an "honest review" and if he says it is I WILL call him a liar. There is an agenda at work here.

As for this queen of clubs personage I can assure her that my svengali routine is the greatest in existence and people from Yorkshire are not exactly the most well placed to review things in an intelligent manner.

I can assure Mr Dreck that I am one of the world's greatest magicians and he is merely a Welsh Yorkshireman of no consequence.

I think the best way to settle the matter is to invite posts from unbiased people who have actually purchased the book. I shall shortly print the review from David Ben who is acknowledged as one of the leading sleight of hand artists in the world and who is recognised for his recent biograpy of Dai Vernon.

Personally I think the best way forward here is to end the discussion before it goes much further. Mr.Deck and Mr.Lewis are never going to reach any midway point on this so there's no point in seeing further salvos being fired. If anyone else has a valid comment to offer or an additional review to post then please PM me and we'll make suitable arrangements.
