What size balls?

Postby LambertClan2006 » Wed Sep 03, 2008 4:41 pm

What size balls does everyone use for the cups and balls? I think the ones that came with my set are 1/2 inch, but I think they are too small. I dont know if I should go with 3/4 or 1 inch.

Also where is the best place to get the crochet balls? What other kinds of balls does everyone use?

Thanks in advance!

The Card Collection has lots of balls.

I currently use 3/4in balls, because the bigger balls that came with my Morrissey combo set didn't behave well with the chop cup.

I found that I couldn't get my ball to drop if there were already two beneath.

This post has been tailored to provide maximum fnar.

It's all true though.

I use 3/4 inch balls because I can palm them well. My rule of thumb is to buy balls that are about one quarter the width of your hand.

The problem that I have is that I can never seem to find a cup that's the right size for my final load.

You realise that you're just inviting questions about your cup size...

What Size Balls

Postby Allen Tipton » Sun Sep 21, 2008 12:15 pm

You could try using sponge balls. A bit lightweight but they do work. 1 icnh for close to the audience 1 1.2 to 2 inch for stage/cabaret work
The size depends on:
1. Which venues you work. The father away from your audience the
bigger your.. bsorry the balls.
2. In England Card Collection (in Kent) often stocks the crotched ones.
In London Davenports sell 4x One inch diameter red for £6:50 approx
$13 USA
Mini set ( for mini cups) at £6:50 set of 4
2x 1 inch Crotchet Balls for Chop Cup at £6
Mini Chop Cup £5:50 for a set of 2

Surley Abbotts have them in the USA
and (cannot remember the name) the Magic Shop in Vancouver must have them.

Hmmm,

I'm sorry Lady of Mystery, BUT ......

Was it just me, or how many others went weak at the knees and got confused

Jesting asside, what's your final load   If its a rugby ball you could use 3 buckets  And sing the song Allen will remember, "There's a hole in my bucket ....
