A word in a million, JB magic

Postby Mark Waddington » Tue Aug 10, 2004 1:40 pm

Title, A word in a million

Inventor, Nicholas Einhorn

Supplier, exclusivly JB magic

Price, £10

Difficulty, 1/5

Trick description
ANY book is casually flicked through and ANY page is stopped at (the spectator can even hold the book and stop on any page they wish). ANY word is looked at and remembered, the book is snapped shut. While you turn away the thought of word is written down on any a piece of paper or a napkin etc, the paper is screwed up into a ball. WITHOUT ANY questions, guidance etc you name out loud the word they are mearly thinking of. The paper is un-screwed it says the word you NAMED. This is super clean you will love the method it is brilliant. NO ADDING NUMBERS TO FORCE WORDS, LINES, PAGES, NO MEMORY WORK, QUESTIONS OR FISHING. A different book each and every time if you wish and ALWAYS a different word.

Review,
A great effect. The idea of being able to stop on ANY page, with No limitations of which word to use is just amazing and im sure it will get great reactions.
I wouldnt say you could use it in different books, as the gimmick is glued into the book so just grab a really cheap book from your local charity shop.
Its a great gimmick but i wouldnt say it is worth £10, is just a big version of a cheap kids toy.

Overall,
Great effect, nice gimmick, not really worth £10 but get one anyway.

Rating
7/10 due to the pricing

Mostly I find with these things you are merely paying for the idea and not the gimmick, so if it was something you would use a lot then £10 would be quite cheap.

Is the gimmick something that you could make up yourself? so that perhaps you could gimmick 3 or 4 books and have the spectator select one to be used?

I'd say it was well worth the price. Of the books test's I've seen this is the best. There are absolutely no forces of any kind, literally any word from any page can be chosen and re-set is quick and easy.
If you like book tests you won't go far wrong with this one.
Personally I know the gimmick and I know the secret and I still ordered one today.

as this effect has been published in many books since the original version was put out by Koran, I am surprised that anyone is selling it.
you can find it in Tarbell, 13 steps, and Profesional presentations, to name but 3 books.
It does strike me odd that Einhorne is claiming to be the inventor though. He has just adapted an existing , well respected , and well known effect .

I feel I should make it very clear that full credit is given to Al Koran in the instructions. However the version I have developed is different to the original (Although there are similarities) I believe that I have made this book test super easy to use in most books and used a modern gimmick not available to Al Koran. Furthermore the handling and therefore part of the method are far different to the Tarbell version and I assume from the e-mail that Dale does not own A Word in a Million as these differences would be very clear to anyone who knows the original method. I do not claim to be the inventor , I have merely stood on the shoulder of a giant and given credit where it is due. In my opinion this book test and combination of gimmicks and methods are different to those currently available and therefore not an infringement of anyone elses rights or inventions. The gimmick has been carefully made and whilst it could have been made cheaper those who own it will understand why it is somewhat more involved than what has been mentioned elswhere on this forum. I believe £10 is a tiny price to pay for a product like this. Gimmick aside, consider the cost of printing, advertising and time spent developing the method and presentation. (If you see me at a convention do ask me to dem it to you as I have a few nice touches not mentioned in the instructions).

I hope that clears up any queries.
Yours
Nicholas Einhorn (not Einhorne)

Dear Nick.
many thanks for that answer, which does clear up any questions i had about this item.
I dont own it as you say, and agree with you, the price is a very fair one.
It is a shame that when writing reviews, posters dont mention important information like where the developer ( Better to say that than" inventor" as above) gives credit to others who inspire .
That way, the chances of getting the wrong idea will be slim.

(By the way, Dan & dusty. If they got rid of those awfull puppets, and the dodgy stand up, and just kept the magic, it would be a great show )

Hi Nick,

I now agree with you about that as i hae performed it a few times, and i have probably made about 20 times what i paid for it now, as a result of using it!

BTW, do you still do the bitten and restored cookie?

Cheers

Nick

Is there any chance that you could PM me with these extra bits for A word in a million, as some different performance ideas would be great!

Cheers

Oh great I ordered it weeks ago, still haven't had it and now I find out it's been discontinued. Niot Impressed with JB magic for not telling me.

Now I need to source the gimmick, oh well I suppose on the plus side if I find the gimmick can't imagine it will be more than £1.
