My first review is gladly reserved for the new dvd by Big Blind Media

Owen Packard and Dave Forrest were first bought to my attention when I purchased 2wo Faced

They are great teachers who clearly enjoy their work.
Their methods are clearly explained in a very approaching manner.
You failed to be bored as they can teach in detail but maintain your attention.

The dvds are of high quality format and contain strong tricks. I would suggest you browse their work.

Onto the new dvd.

It is part 2 of the 'ultimate weapon' collection.
The 1st being the great Cullfather - A highly forgotten and under-used move that can create amazing impromptu effects.

Difficulty
Contains lots of material of ranging difficulty.
There is something for everyone.
Well taught though, you won't find it overwhelming.

Review
A stripper deck is an underrated gaff deck, I remember myself having one but barely using it, naive of the effects it could be produced.
The dvd introduces the master magician Barry Mephisto; he shows you exactly what not to do; the stereotype of the deck.

I purchased Tomos book; The Stripper Deck by Jon Thompson. I had to see what he was always ranting about to be honest.
I frowned upon the ellusionists whom would perform ambitious effects where the deck was close to setting on fire.
The burning eyes deemed it a kids gaff deck, (proceeder to the I.D as it were)

Tomos book enlightened me to the types of effects possible.
This dvd expands on his ideas and showcases some of the unfathomable effects.

Redux- The reactions were brilliant and summed up this amazing effect.
This mind reading trick kills and even fooled me. It goes against so many impossibles; you can't stop smiling during the explanation. Could easily be released individually.

Overall
I would highly recommend this to all. I was tempted not to review it so that I can it just for myself. The collection of ultimate weapons are the underground material that I don't want to leak to the layman.

But I really would advise you checking it out.
It is a high quality dvd, I believe its cost rewarded.
The lessons teach you an aspect of the deck, followed by a trick that involves the principle and then onto further teachings.
This method breaks you into the deck and I believe is a great learning aid.

You will watch this several times, it contains alot of material, with tricks that you will use.

Overall score
Go buy it yourself and see.
I don't intend to score any of my reviews, I'm a provocateur as it were.

Dave forresst came to my attention quite a wee while back.....my mate was away with folks from his work to prague or something for a stag weekend and he came back telling me the guy who was getting hitched was a crash hot magician.....(i expected somone with a TT to be honest) but naw it was yer man Mr forrestt (tho ive never met the bloke so im not advertising for him)......any hoo i bought A.I.R ages ago and bought the trickery and they are both the dogs.....so id say go on and get it cause you seem to get loads for your money with the guy (tech deck anyone!!)

hardly the respectful manner that's encouraged on here is it..it's the insinuation behind it that is both odd and very unfair...

quite a few of us know how hard Tomo works on his stuff, and what was indirectly suggested was uncalled for...

Sorry about my comment, chaps. I think I might have over reacted a bit. It's been a long weekend and that kind of snide, easy cynicism really made my blood boil. It took nothing to post but hurts real people who worked hard. I missed Blackpool this year because I was working on the script for this DVD and everyone worked bloody hard throwing a bit of quality at the screen during the shoot and in post production too. I really don't think BBM have any reason to start setting up sock puppets to plant phony reviews. They're decent people trying to do something useful, which is why I accepted their offer of shooting this thing in the first place. I don't know who Nebulous is, and being new maybe he's not familiar with the reviews process here, but to dismiss everything I worked for without even seeing the damned thing really got to me.

I'll shut up now.

I just watched the trailer over at BBm.. looks like you had a lot of fun making this DVD. Wink

Ive never really used the stripper deck except once or twice.. This maybe my route to using it more efficiently.

I ma hav to look at this, like most of you probably, I bought a stripper deck, did a couple of tricks with it and haven't touched it since. I also got 101 tricks with a stripper deck, but it wasn't especially inspiring and didn't have much on technique and handling. Gonna have to put this one on my wishlist

Just sent my pennies off for this; as it has Jon's name attached to it, I'm guessing it's going to to be damn good DVD...and the free stripper deck makes it an absolute bargain.

I've not atually owned or used a stripper deck since I was 11, so I'm really looking forward to getting re-acquainted with this old friend Very Happy
