Spice street magic day

Postby Happy Toad » Nov 4th, '03, 15:03

Just wondered if anyone else on the board was a spice member? For the uninitiated Spice is a group that offers all kinds of activities from fire eating and rally driving to absailing and quiz nights. I ask because I notice at the end of the month they have a street magic day and wondered if anyone was going. Below is a copy of what's on offer.

"This is a new workshop from Chris, and equally suitable for first timers and for those who have attended a previous day with Chris and want to learn some new tricks.

Chris Houdini escapologist, illusionist and magician is coming to the Birmingham to demonstrate and teach and share with us the secrets and confidences behind popular street magic, mind reading and those elaborate stage illusions. Chris will also enthral us with tales of his days as an escapologist. As well as amazing demonstrations Chris will teach you some simple to learn tricks that will impress your friends and earn you many a 'drink'.

The idea today is to teach you a complete act, which you can take away and impress your friends with. Any special equipment needed is included in the cost. Once you have signed the pledge of secrecy you will be able to buy some extra 'props and tricks' as seen on TV! Some of the most impressive of which only cost a few pounds or can be made for free! You could probably win back the cost of this day in just one evening!

Sounds like another 'let's give away secrets to the general public in exchange for cash to salve my conscience' type of thing to me.

Well the link is http://www.spicebham.com/

But you need to be a member or guest of a member to go to any spice event and I can't see it's worth joining just for this one event. Mind you I learnt to fire eat with Spice which is possibly the only other magic related event I can think of, but still not worth joining just for two events.
