I think the key here is the date and possibly time of posting compared to the computer clock setting. I've managed to do a couple of successful postings even with the wrong date set on the machine so it may not be a hard and fast rule. I just lurve technology!!!

Why is it that while I'm on broadband and hence don't log off, I find that I keep needing to log back in to the board if I've left it for a while. Even though the window remains open?

Same here - probably a timeout on the system to avoid unauthorised access if you forget to log off or something.

Yea but I notice that it doesn't happen on another board ( MB ) using the exact same system?

OK, you've just gone waaaaay beyond my technical knowledge (very short trip, wasn't it?!) The timeout thing doesn't always happen but, if I leave the machine unattended for an hour or more, I sometimes have to log on again. Ah the mysteries of technology! 8)

Yes Ive noticed this too, and that it doesn't happen on other boards. Ive also noticed that it doesn't happen on this board when I access it from some PCs.

So my guess is that it's as part of how the board was initially set up and uses the security settings as hold on the local PC.

Now, in knowing this it doesn't help much - and to be honest I'v got used to it now (Its been ages since I made a post as GUEST).

Basically I remember to login as that way I can esily get to see where all the new messages are :)

I just have it set up to log me in automatically from all the computers I use, that way I never have to think about logging in.

Now that appeals to the lazy side of my nature - in fact, it's about 98% of me!
