Flight 204 - Sean Fields

Postby Jordan C » Oct 22nd, '03, 12:21

The Magician rolls back his sleeves and borrows a ring. The ring is displayed and his hands are shown to be empty. The magician gingerly lays the spectators ring on his open hand and slowly passes the other hand over the ring. As the hand passes over the ring simply "vanishes". Hands are agin shown empty. The magician then reaches up to his collar and pulls his necklace into view. Hanging freely on the necklace is the spectators ring!!! The necklace is then unclasped, the ring slid off and then given back to the astonished spectator!

Ok, this is one of those tricks where you'll go through a period of being undecided as to whether or not you like this trick. The effect is fantastic when it is pulled off flawlessly but it does take some fumbling around until you get right.

The set up seems straight forward enough when you read the instructions but the practicality of actually getting the [gimmick arranged to suit] was one of trial and error (mostly error on my part, D'oh). I also found [difficulty with] even my girlfirends small (size f) ring.

Edited EVEN FURTHER by mods

In conclusion then I give Flight 204 by Sean Fields a score of 7 out of 10.

PS: I'm new to this board and this is my first post so GREETINGS to everyone. I am 29, affected by the magic bug big time and am currently seeking to develop my own tricks.

PPS: Flight 204 costs around £19 and is available from a few online stores including this one here http://www.magictricks.co.uk/prodshow.asp?code=363

There is a video of the effect to watch at the above link.

Thanks for the posting Jordan and welcome! I need to mention that our sponsors, emagictricks do this at a lower price - check out http://www.emagictricks.co.uk/product_i ... ts_id=4544 for details.

I've also had to edit your posting a bit as it tips the gaff on the working of the illusion and we have to avoid that for all sorts of reasons! Anyway, good contribution and please keep them coming!

Hello Jordan,

If I were you I'd go to the edit button and remove all the bits that give away details on how the trick is done. ( Before the moderators do ) as this board can be read by anyone and the idea is not to give the secrets away.

It would be useful for you to go and read some of the other reviews and the review template to get an idea of how we operate.

Apart from that, welcome to the board.

Regards

Happy Toad

This is an edited addition: I see my post is rather obsolete as Mandrake has beaten me to it. We must have been writing at the same time but he had a quicker finger on the sumit button

Greased lightning perhaps, but the whole METHOD was revealed in the 'review'. There's absolutely no WAY that we'd have gotten away with letting that post through, so I've edited it further.

Thanks for the posting, but remember that the reviews section is open to ANYBODY, and revealing the nature of gimmicks is not really good forum etiquette.

Perhaps you could go and take a look at the structure of some of the other reviews, and perhaps re-edit yours to fall in line???

But welcome to the board - live long, and prosper.

Oh, and PS... sorry for appearing to be a bunch of interfering mods, but we've got the livelihood of fellow magicians to think about!

Oh yeah, sorry (skulk)

Ok Flight 204 is a good effect but care should be taken with the materials supplied. I chose to replace part of the apparatus with a similar product and obtained better results.

Hope this is better :)

I too had problems with this effect, many specs noticed the gimmick and so i have only performed it twice before resigning it to the cupboard!

I know this thread is old, but I just experimented a little bit.

I also had some problems with the original gimmick, but I very much liked the idea about it.

So, I don't wanna go too much into detail here because of exposure, but Steve Fearson just recently released "something" which is absolutely perfect for this trick. I hope the people who have Flight 204 and don't use it know what I mean...Just give it a try....
