User Moderation Requests

On a forum which I help moderate and run, we have a feature we have just added, which allows any user to report a certain post for moderation if they think its inappropriate in any way, allowing any posts that break the rules to be deleted or edited faster. I know how tough it can be to keep up sometimes (even though our community is considerably smaller), especially as most people have lots of other things to do as well. (I would like to take this opportunity to thank the mods here for all their good work.) our forum is using a similar version to this one and the mod is available from phpbb.com - if you would like a link, pls let me know.

 I did do a search, but I wasn't looking for 'alert button'

It does work very well though and I think it would be a lot easier than having to go to the forum index and select a certain mod, who my not even be online for a day or two in some circumstances. The email addresses for the mods won't be exposed in any way as the emails are sent through the same system as notification emails, and go to all mods. It maybe a good idea to filter them to a different folder if the emails get too much, but you dont get multiple emails for a single post - if the post has already been reported then you would just get a message saying it's already been reported and get sent back to the thread...

oh, and mods who dont wish to receive the emails at all can 'opt out' by clicking a link in the reported posts control panel...

Personally I get about 3 or 4 PMS, and numerous MSN messages alerting me to TM moderation potentials—which is really helpful.

Seems we've got it covered ;)

Ok, thats cool. Although you should get less messages about a single post if thats a problem.
