The Effect.
This is a very easy and extremely visual version of the all time classic "cards across" routine. It will will leave your audience absolutely gobsmacked.
Four red cards are openly displayed, counted and held by the spectator. I can’t stress enough at how fair this part of the effect is. No dreaded Emlsey’s, in fact no sleight of hand at all. You even get the spectator to count the cards into your hand before handing them back for the spectator to hold and keep secure.
You then pick up a set of 4 blue cards, show them as being all different, and ask a second spectator to randomly select one. You stress that this could have been any of the four and then ask the spectator to hold out their hands as you place the four blue cards for them to keep secure.
By this point the magic has already occurred. The rest is just fun and presentation.
You ask the second spectator to name the card that was selected, and then invisibly take the card from their sealed hands and transfer it to the sealed hands of the first spectator.
Yeah right.
The second spectator is asked to open their hands, and you take out the three cards that are now there. Yes you heard. There are only three. They are placed on the table in clear sight of everyone. No R&S. no repositional glue, just three blue backed playing cards.
You walk over to he first spectator. Already your audience is ahead of you. "No, surely not, it can’t be so".
You ask the first spectator to open their hands and take out the 5 cards there. They are spread to clearly show that between the 4 red backed cards is now a fifth blue backed card. You take out the blue backed card and ask the second spectator to again name their card at the same time slowly turning over the blue backed card.
A miracle.
Difficulty. 2/5
1=Even I can do it, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)
Very easy. There is one move that could be considered a sleight, but in fact when demonstrated by Bob King, this move can be and in fact should be eliminated, as there is a simpler and more effective method.
Review.
What more can I say except that it plays just as described. Bob King demonstrated many effects at his recent lecture at the Ipswich Magical Society, and most of them can be considered as very strong magic.
For me though, this one was one of the highlights.
As I mentioned, before Bob King has come up with (IMO) an improved handling from that given in the instructions.

Bottom Line.
This may not be one for the purists out there as frankly it may just be too easy for you
, but sometimes an effect like this is just what is needed. Personally I love it, and in many ways it’s a shame it was demonstrated at the IMS, as I would have loved to demonstrate it there myself.
In short it’s a real Magicians Fooler, which should come as no surprise as its being promoted by Bob King.
