Mentalism Night at Ipswich Magical Society
I thought I would review this one as it could easily have been called The TalkMagic Evening of Mentalism.
The performers included Dr. Todd, Flashy, Roman59 and was hosted by Captain Fantastic who also did a couple of effects himself.
As if this all wasn’t enough though, in the seconded half we had a very special guest with us. Mr. Graham P. Jolley who very kindly did a 30 minute act.
If you have never seen Graham Jolley perform before then you have missed one of the greats. Graham had everyone in tears of laughter. I mean this guy is really funny and yet still manages to pull off some very strong Mentalism.
Mentalism is a hugely popular genre of magic at the moment and the evening was a real treat top watch. All the performers had such a widely different style that it made for great entertainment.
Flashy (The Adam Ant of Mentalism) is obviously a born performer and he certainly looked the part. His act was fast paced and very dramatic.
Dr. Todd was a little more serious in his Metaphysical Magician approach to Mentalism. It is great to see him combine his skills as a lecturer and philosopher to bring alive his act. He is a very watchable magician and it would have been nice to see him do a few more things.
Roman59 has specialised in Mentalsim for sometime now, and you can see he has a very polished act. It is always interesting watching him perform as he always has something that no one has ever seen before.
Captain Fantastic compered the evening and really did make it flow effortlessly together. If you have ever tried compering you will know that this task is not as easy as it sounds. We were also treated to Marc performing a few bits and pieces, of which I especially liked his Drawing Graphology effect. Very impressive indeed.
As for Graham P. jolley.
http://www.mindreader.co.uk/ I really couldn’t say enough good things about him. This guy is seriously entertaining and again, you just wanted his act to go on and on and on.
I took loads of photos of the evening, and at some point it will be reviewed on our website,
http://www.mindreader.co.uk/ at which time I will post a link so you can see some of the stars of Talk Magic performing.
