Which type of swami do you guys prefer? (I don't like the Vernet just because it's a TT and I'm not experienced at concealing these)

Are most which use pencil lead refillable? (I.e. if the lead runs down, can we replish it with ordinary pencial led of the right size, or will we have to buy a new one?)

Hmmm :?

If you are not comfortable working with a TT then why are are attempting to work with a Swami (which, technically speaking, requires greater skill)?

As to your question as to the kind of Swami device that's used? The answer is that each performer finds comfort with different types for different reasons e.g. there is no "right" or "wrong" about it, it's a matter of what works best for you and which is the most comfortable as well as DEPENDABLE for you.

Most all of my Swami's are based on a TT type arrangement though I have my share of flesh colored Banjo Picks as well as the Scarub style which stick to the pad of the thumb ala the magic of blu-tac. The catch is, I use each style for different bits of business for differing reasons. It is a peculiarity we old mental-cases (Mentalists) get into from time to time, as we strive to through the curious magic buff off our trail whilst employing the proper style of deception for each circumstance... that is another tale altogether.

My suggestion to you, in that you are obviously new to the world of magic, is to decide first Why you want to learn how to use a Swami and if you are going to study magic on the whole, are work towards becoming a solid Mentalist. There is a serious difference between the two and between what some folks of our current era refer to as being "Mentalism" vs. what old School Mentalism/Psychic Entertainment is all about.

Don't let my gruffness get to you, I growl at folks for a reason... to make them think and to make them strive to become the best at what they choose to do and be that they can, so don't be too afraid of the gumpy old bear

Except when he's talking about piracy. Then be afraid. Be very afraid.

Yup, boon for close-up stuff, TT version for anything else....

i made an ink-nibbed TT the other month, but i found i was worrying about using ink too much and just went back to the jolly old pencil...
