Triology

Postby lindz » Aug 31st, '06, 12:55

This is my first review so hope you like it.

I am gonna review a trick called Triology which you can buy at Alakazam for about £29.99.

I thought i should review this trick because: 1. i havent seen a review of it on here yet. 2. It is one of the strongest tricks i have in my set.

Also i know its not a new trick but i thought it should be reviewed as its such a good effect.

1. What is triology
Answer: Yes its another prediction trick but its not your average prediction trick.

2. what is the prediction
Answer: Well here goes i hope i explain this well enough for you all to understand. You give a piece of paper to a spectator to hold but they cant look at it yet. Then you tell them to name a card between 1 and 26 lets say for instance the number is 18. Then once they have done that you ask them for a number between 27 and 52 e.g 38. Wait theres more then you ask them to name any playing card they want e.g 7 of spades. Once that is all done you ask them to open the piece of paper which says king of hearts, 3 of spades and the number 35. That piece of paper makes no sense i here you say well you pull out a pack of cards which are numbered on the back and you go through them to find the number 18 then you go on to find the number 38 and then you turn the cards face up and you find the 7 of spades and the spectator can watch you do this to make sure all the numbers and faces of the cards are different. Then you ask the spectator to call out the first number they chose which was the number 18 so you pick up the card that says 18 on the back and turn it over it is none other than the king of hearts. Then you pick the card up that says 38 and you turn that over that is the 3 of spades. Then you pick up the card they chose which was 7 of spades and you turn that over and it has the number 35 on the back and that concludes the tricks.

Good points:
Very strong mentalism effect
the spectator cant examine the cards but once you show all the numbers and faces to be different they wont ask to examine them.
Amazing reactions
It will go straight into your reportoire gauranteed.

Bad points:
The major downfall to this trick is the setup you have to write the numbers on the back yourself and the instructions are not very clear. I had to take mine down the shop for them to help me.
cards cant be examined but thats not really a down point because you can overide that by showing them the cards yourself
Can only be shown to the audiance once.
Cant have the deck out from the start.

Also most of these downpoints have been taken away now because you can also buy an update so you can leave the deck out from the start and there are other improvements to it.

overall:

insructions and setup 3/10
performance once set up 9.5/10 thats only because you cant show it to the audiance more than once.

By the way you only have to setup once then its always ready

Final point: Even thoe there is some downpoints i would reccomend this trick to anyone as i said it is one of my strongest effects the only thing was the setup but once i got over that i was ok. Honestly i have perfomed this hundreds of times and everytime i have the spectator was left gobsmacked.

Thanks for checking out my first review if you think there is anyway i could improve for my second review please let me know.

and REMEMBER you dont get into magic, magic gets into you

I'm weakening :( The lure of CUPS is getting far stronger after reading this line.

lol it is a great effect i dont know how much the update is. The normal version is about £29.00 but is well worth it after you worked out the setup. I might sound stupid here but what is CUPS i imagine it is along the lines of purchasing.

Yeah, it's to do with a compulsion to buy yet more magic just because you can have it with a couple of clicks. There's a long running support thread here somewhere.

Cheers now i dont have to feel left out when people say that. I have that syndrome to lol. I have brought 4 pieces of magic items in the last 6 days and spent about £120.00. My missus was not happy but i told her to go bingo last night so that smoothed things over lol

Trilogy's one of my absolute faves. Always excellent reactions with a bit of thought and effort applied to performance.
There's much more here..

But you would have missed that if searching for "Triology" :D

Anyone worried about price/pocket space should get Trilogy Streamline (£18.99 from Alakazam). Go on, feed that CUPS.

I actually achieve the exact same effect as this using 2 blank Phil plus decks to make one pack.

In my version you can only use 1-15 and 16-30 as the number range but it still works well because they are unaware at that stage that cards are even going to be used.
