Postby KardAdict » Sep 2nd, '06, 14:20

The Effect

This is a collection of 16 routines by Jay Sankey done in a table/restrant for real lay people.

Cost

£20 from magicshop.co.uk

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

All of the tricks are fairly easy, around a 2 or 3, but to any experianced hobbiest or pro, they are all very simple. Stuff like a bill switc, , basic card and coin sleights and some rubber bands.

Review
There is a fair amount of material on this DVD, so i'll give a short review on just a few tricks.

FAN MAIL. The magician's and the performer's autographs exchange places, visually. Basicly a very cleaver twist on the bill change. 8/10

FULL LOTUS. A selected signed card, and a floded joker on a paper clip change places. Absolutly, frys laypeople, although I have not tryed it yet. 9/10

NOT THIS CARD. Sankeys variation of the Chicago opener. I have used this a few times, and it kickes ass. Spectator is shown a card with the writing "DO NOT CHOOSE" but he finds it, and the there is an amazing climax. 8/10

VITAL SIGNS. This has got to be one of my all time favourite close up magic tricks off all kinds. A spectator is asked to hold a bured match and an un burnt match behind their back. They bring on out, and it changes to the other, and so does the one behind their back. Gets crazy reactions, and so easy. 9.5/10

There are a few more gems, in there aswell. But there is one thing i picked up on though. Not ALL of the effects are actually performed in front of people. But only a small downside.

Overall

I think this is a vey valuable reference, and very helpfull for anyone who works with people a lot. 8.5/10.

Anyone with any questoions, I would be happy to help.

Joe.
