Cigarette up the nose by Gary Kosnitzky(for ultimatecreate)

Postby Jerome the French » Sep 10th, '06, 10:24

The Effect
You proceed to push a cigarette up your nose SLOWLY and VISUALLY up one of your nostril, then you show your hands empty.

Cost
About £20

Difficulty: 2
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

The gimmick is easy to use, but you need to get used to it to perform the effect nicely.

Review
Well, there is not much to say about it, the trick does what it says, but (i don't know if I can say it) if people jump on your sleeves to inspect them, you're screwed. That said, you CAN roll up your sleeves after the vanish, to show that there is nothing...
Nonetheless, the effect freaks out loads of people, and gets good reactions.
The gimmick is well built, but I can imagine it is breakable, so it needs some care...
I personally don't perform it anymore, because I want people to be able o inspect my sleeves, and I like to feel "clean".
Now I just thought about it, but it is probably possible to attach the gimmick somewhere else to vanish it (I'll try it), cause I'd like to use it again.
Also, you can't perform that totally surrounded, but the angles are wide.

Overall 7/10
A good effect, fairly easy to do.
I'd recommend it, but think about the smoke ban taking action next year, it might be harder to perform everywhere...

Lol - id be surprised if you could smoke 'that' cigggy.

The reason i ask about whether or not the gimmick is detachable, is because i wondered if you could use the pull to attach to other things

Well, you have (Deleted by Mods - exposure of part of the method, sorry!)
Hope that helps.

Sorry about that, i didn't realize that I was exposing so much about the trick.
Will be more careful next time!

A smoking ban is the PERFECT circumstance under which to perform it.

"Anyone mind if I have a cigarette?"

"You can't smoke here...it's a non-smoking area."

"Oh...right, OK, no problem....SNIFFF!!!"

You have a very valid point, here, Tom...
The thing is, I don't like having gimmicks like that just for one effect (especially if it is just for a gag)... As a professional, i like when people can inspect my sleeves, and pat me around so that they can make sure that I am not "cheating"... And with the cigarette ban, it'll be more and more difficult to perform with cigs...

Although, the gag thing is a great idea.
I used to walk around saying "you wanna see a quick way to stop lighting one? sniff them!"... and did the trick...
