Serendipity By Mike Skutt

The Effect

This is a pack containing Mike's Lecture notes and a DVD

Lecture Notes

Mr Coffee

A coin is borrowed and placed on a napkin. The coffee cup is placed on top of the coin, this then removed and when you spread coffee via a spoon the date of the coin is written in large letters across the the napkin. Mike also explains a version with teabags.

Mr Tea

A very nice coin in teabag effect. Easy and fun to perform.

Mugged!

This is a restoration of a broken mug handle. Very nice effect.

The Odeon Production

The magician takes off a pair of glasses and rubs them on his / her shirt as this occurs the spectator can see a shape forming from the shirt. A Sponge ball comes out of the shirt and gets stuck in the glasses.

Siamese Change

This is a very nice colour change to perform.

Electric Company

Bend a borrowed coin with no gimmicks

Bender!

This is a much more visual way to bend a coin with no gimmicks

Dirty Laundry

A very good and visual coin production from under a dryer sheet.

Couple Card

A very good and entertaining joining card effect that is ideal for weddings.

The ol' Coin-up-the-nose- Trick

Yes, stick a coin up your nose

Lend Me A Hand

A nice little comedy routine that only needs a well known prop from your local joke shop.

DVD

Contains a selection of the effects from the book.

Cost

$15.00 from www.planetskutt.com

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Varies a lot and depends on your skill and experience, so i will put a very broad 1 -3 for the effects.

Review

I received this very quickly and when i opened the package i saw a very nice A4 spiral bound printed book and a DVD. The book is well printed and the pictures are very clear. The instructions in the book are very easy to follow. The DVD is 16 minutes long and contains performances and explanations for a selection of the effects. The DVD is done to music and mike does not speak on the DVD. However when he does the explanations it is clear what is going on. You can always refer to the lecture notes as you watch.

Of course it would not be a Skutt product without a bit of silly behaviour, so some of the link pieces are very funny. As you know by now this is shot on location around Town. Effects are performed in a house, a coffee shop etc. Mike just performs these effects to the camera, there are no audience reactions.

I was very impressed with this package, there is something for everyone here. This really is a bargin and of course with exchange rates good at the moment you will get this at a great price.

Overall

A very impressive 9/10 :P

Excellent review there Stephen!

The Siamese Change is beautiful and a lovely little bit of magic. Fooled me the first time I saw it. The Ol' Coin up the Nose Trick is another visual stunner - a bit angle sensitive, but brilliant-thinking nonetheless - along with the other effects and accompanying DVD for $15 (about £8) this is a BARGAIN!

As my mum always said, you can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends nose...

Nice Review STephen. It wouldnt have been something I gave a second look at, but you know it has piqued my interest. Sounds like some fun items, and $15 is nowt these days.

The coin bends interest me greatly.

Ues - a very mice review indeed with what sounds like some good and simple effects.

Bananafish is right - you can't get very much at all for $15 these days sp this would appear to be a bargain!
