Acidus Globus

The full title of this product is:

Thought Reading with Billets, Volume 2: Acidus Globus by Millard Longman

It is available from the Mev Pro Shop (http://www.mevproshop.com) for $180.

This is probably the Holy Grail of billet work: no restrictions on where the person puts their information, no tear needed, and many variations provided for different performance settings.

The DVD features Loren Tindall and Millard Longman, both long time readers, or as Millard says, 'shut eye' readers. They give a short demonstration on how the Acidus Globus method looks and then give a really nice history of billet work.

Millard Longman started out in Tarot work and then in his 30s started to do magic and mentalism. He was amused that most mentalists were using 'tricks' to fake what he was doing anyway. But he saw a great advantage for his reading work in using billets to get that little bit extra information to produce a stronger and more effective reading.

He gives a brief history that charts billet reading through Annemann, Corinda, Cassidy, and Busch.

He then gives a basic overview of different billet styles and types, as well as different folds and handlings. Each of these is then shown in good close up for easy learning of the various techniques.

There is a very nice discussion of the ethics involved in asking people for information that is later revealed. He also advises that if you use your business cards for a billet, do not hand them out as a souvenir as that is a bit of information you do not want your audience to have. He keeps his billets after an evening performance and re-reads then queries listed by his audience to keep in touch with the types of worries that people have over time.

The technical aspects of the system are very well explained and put into context across a variety of performance situations. There are one-handed and two-handed peeks, routines using the system, the use of marks, switches, and what to do 'when things go wrong'.

It is clear that there are so many applications for this system. Once perfected, there is no need for peek wallets, centre tears, or other popular methods.

One of the key insights to the DVD is that billets should be incidental to what you are doing and not the feature, as if doing some amazing magical manipulation.

I cannot compare this to Craig Browning's review of the Master Billet Course as I have not seen the set of four DVDs, but I have been very impressed with this DVD, which contains a vast sum of material for the magician, mentalist, and/or psychic performer.

It is expensive, but it is very high quality and his system has not been revealed before. Anyone considering use of billets for accessing information for one-ahead routines, question and answer, and other routines, then they should give this serious consideration as it would be a sound investment.

10/10

As I've stated elsewhere, anyone that is SERIOUS about learning billet work will want both of Millard's CDs along with the Zingg material, the collection will allow you to go further in ability and creative resourcfulness than anything I've seen on the market.

AG is an awesome alternate to traditional Billet Switch work (but not a replacement for it... both must be known and practiced!) I happened to use this move just recently as a kind of "test run" and was blown away. Between the AN and AG methods of Longman and the R U Move found in the Zinng material, you'll devastate the typical human being regardless their level of experience.
