Jay said:
It looks like something out of science fiction movie! The performer opens a small wallet to show a business card featuring a hypnotic printed pattern with a small hole near one end. Then slowly, very slowly, the hole impossibly melts its way across the entire length of the card! The visual impact is incredible!
The performer HANDS EVERYTHING OUT FOR EXAMINATION! The card, the wallet, EVERYTHING!
It takes 10 seconds to reset this mind-blowing effect and the extremely clever gimmicks do all the work for you! You can even perform the same stunning effect with your own business card, a playing card or a dollar bill! Deadly easy to do, it's the perfect walk around trick you will do everywhere! And remember, EVERYTHING CAN BE EXAMINED!
Comes complete with wallet, gimmicks, specially printed cards and instructional DVD featuring a variety of handlings and effects including "The Classic Handling," "One of Six," and the "Ultimate Business Card Giveaway!"

I say:
This is truly a great idea. But not if you use the wallet that comes along with the DVD. This is where I find problems arise. Though Jay said in a reply to me that they used a lot of time and effort in finding the best wallet, and he said an expensive one, I find it terrible. I have contacted a few that have Moving Violation and most of them have replaced their wallet with a different one. The one that comes with the DVD is not suitable for a clean finish and may cause the trick to fail. I can't go into too much detail without giving the effect away, but this is a drawback.
When used without a wallet, it's good and gets eyebrow raising and big uuuhs! You can then hand out the playing card, business card or the money bill you hole punched and have it inspected.

I found it a bit strange that the effect Jay used in his promotional video is not shown on the DVD, which in my oppinion is the strongest one. But with the wallet supplied, the trick can fire back in your face at any performance. You can not be sure it will work every time you perform it, and that is not acceptable if you show magic - and you magicians must relate to this issue.

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

There are a few different ways to perform Moving Violation. One way is directly on a playing card, business card paper bill (Any currency, not only dollar bill!) etc. When done like this, the difficulty is:
2 - Anybody can do that one, without much practice, but when used in the wallet there is a 50/50 chance the trick will work or fail.

Pros:
Great idea. Great reaction from spectators. Visible magic happening in front of their eyes. The freshly punched hole moves before their very eyes. Strong effect!

Cons:
The rubbish wallet that comes along with it.

Overall:
8/10 if you don't use the wallet.
2/10 if you use the wallet

The wallet is of such low quality I would think that people would be suspicious . Have you found a good alternative?

Why would that make people suspicious?

i have been interested in this for a while. I have recently been practicing Micheal Close's pothole trick, from his workers series. But im finding it a bit fidly, and too 'unclean'. I saw this demonstrated in Davenports, and even with the dark lighting they've got in there the secret seemd kind of obvious. has anyone actually performed this for real people and got good reaction? cause some guys selling them awefully cheap on ebay (£8!).
Whats everyone elses buying average like these days? im hitting about 2 tricks a week onto the old debit card, c.u.p.s is an evil mistress, i wish someone would just beat me and order me to practice the zarrow shuffle!

Cardza, there is a certain "quality" to the wallet than can cause mistakes or tells if not careful, although the wallet is totally ungimmicked itself and can be replaced with any other packet trick wallet that does not have the same....annoyance. Anyone owning this should know. An easily solved problem really, and the wallet is optional at any rate with other handlings included.

Atomo, I have had great responces with this, albeit with greatly modified handling and lengthened routine.

Ah right...I mistook the original comment as saying that just because the wallet didn't seem really fancy people would think it was special or something...makes sense now :D.

I personally cant see a problem with the wallet, I use this to had out my business cards and so far havent had any problems what so ever, I havent been caught out or anything....In fact I think its a great bit of business.

By the way, I got mine off the guy selling for £8 on ebay, and its because he is a magic dealer, who is trying to sell off his Sankey range, as he isnt renewing his dealer contract with Sankey Magic
