Oz Pearlman's "Born to Perform" teaches this trick pretty well (I think  )

If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

It does indeed (as well as one of the best ACRs out there and the Biddle Trick ).

I work this by saying to the spec ' Right, imagine you have £25 dollars to bet, WITHOUT LOOKING, what card do you have..' This is said the first time you place QD in their hands. If they turn their hand over at this point, I look sternly and say ' Well, it is the QD but you wouldnt have won anything off me there as you cheated.. try it again.. '' I will take the QD and put it straight back in their hands and ask again. Now they dont look and I say ' You would have just won £25 '' :D ''Lets raise the stakes ''.. do the moves slowly.. then ask ''Right, now the games a little more intense because now you're betting £100 ok? Right WIITHOUT LOOKING.. what card do you THINK you have. hearts or diamonds?'' Because I say THINK so emphatically, they cannot mistake it for ''What card do you have/hold'' so they THINK about the routine that just went down.. and try to play out in their mind what should be where.. then a simple matter of acting like you have powers and its game over

Sometimes what I will do is say ''So if they had switched you would be impressed right?' then physically switch them round ( faces down ). They always look like Im just a fraud.. then ill say 'Wait..ill switch em back' just click my fingers and act like something went wrong.. ''You know.. i think I just did something I shouldnt have there.. erm, turn your hand over now'' They always freak, its brilliant

I always set it up as a "test of their observational abilities." Most people are desperately trying to show how smart they are at figuring out the tricks and by setting it up that I will be fooling them, they never check until it's done because they want to catch me doing it. Works quite well :)

I walk up to someone and say "hey, do you think you are observant?" If they say yes, I bring out my cards and hold out the two aces. I give them one facedown and say something like "Ok, this is going to be a test of how well your observe your surroundings! Now, don't look at this card again until I tell you to, because that wouldn't be a very good test now would it?" I do a fake change and ask them what card they think they are holding. On the off chance someone does check, nothing has changed and then I can tease them about not following directions and they won't do it again. Then I do it a few more times, finish the trick and get them to guess which cards they are holding.

I love the reactions this one gets. It's one of my favourites.

Hi this is my first time posting a message, so Hi everyone. i absolutley love the 2 card monty. its one of the first tricks i learnt. ive just recently started swaying towards street magic performance and i am now writing an essay on audiences and magicinas. i was just wondering if anyone had any input into why magicians, espesially street magicians, choose specific participants as there audiences. i have very limited knowledge as i have only been performing street magic a short while and any information will help me greatly, not only in my paper but in choosing my audince when i perform. Thanx
Rob

Hi Guys,

Have had the dvd (Oz Pearlman's Born to Perform) and when straight to the two card monte and whilst I thought this trick was done much as he performed, I am very impressed with the way he presents the trick and especially the way he goes through the performance in detail..... all in all very very pleased.

Still perfecting it at the moment, tried it on the wife who is my most fearless critic and she was impressed (such a great reaction maker this trick)...... can't wait to move on to the other tricks.

Once again thanks for your recommendation!! spot on!!
