I'd just like to know if any1 could recommend a really powerful bill in lemon (fruit) effect. I do not want a hugely expensive trick/dvd ( The Final Answer DVD), as I am looking for a cheaper alternative that does the same thing. Does any1 own a great signed bill in lemon trick, who could review it or offer me some alternatives. When I say cheap I mean I dont want to be paying more than £40 really. Iv'e heard about the bill in lemon gimmick knife, is that any good? I want something like this so badly after seeing Paul Zenon perform it, I need this trick in my routine! Please someone help...

There is a bill in lemon effect in Mark Wilsons complete course in magic

there is a great bill in Kiwi effect on the Martin Sanderson DVD "corporate close-up magic" but the Mark Wilson book would be cheaper

StephenMagic is right about the Martin Sanderson DVD having a bill in Kiwi fruit (same principle) and it's around £25 with all of the other material on it as well, including a great chop cup routine to intruduce the fruit.

There's a review somewhere on TM if you search it out.

Personally, I'd recommend this one. As for the gimmicked knife, I recommend giving this a miss. It's not only around £40 but it can't be examined.

There is a Bill in Lemon on Bill Malone's On The Loose vol 2. It's about £25 for the dvd and there is some good stuff on it.

I think his trick is called Counterfeit Money.

I think that it's ok, but being relatively new to magic I don't know other methods.

I suggest that when you saw a effects you think it is worth to pay no matter how much because you think the effect is strong , so just save money till you got to pay it . Trust me after you got it you will very very love what you have bought .
For the bill in lemon magic i personally think Carl Cloutier BILL IN KIWI DVD and Bill Malone only the best handling for me

i know this is an old thread but i too am after a good bill in lemon. i head llpub.com are selling one at a big price!! i have the bill malone one but find it too hard even tho it is a lovely effect. paul zenons version is so nice too. i have been looking at getting the martin sanderson tape so may have to get that as after a chop cup routine as well!!!

Mark Wilson's book has a good one in it. That's the one I'm playing with, seems to work nicely.

and also a Cloutier dvd too...has some other very nice effects in it on top of that...

Danzoe; Do buy Magic Down Your Alley by Ali Ben Ali, published by Magick Enterprises, Sheffield at £8. In it you will find a very simple but effective Bill in Lemon. Also a number of the late Brian McLer-non's professional routines. You only need the lemons( he uses oranges), a pencil & a container.
There is a simple but effective one in The Genius of Robt. Harbin by Eric Lewis, page 143 and used by Harbin for years from 1934 onwards.
Wayne Dobson has an equally brilliant Note in Banana, in W.D's Pro-File, page 71.
None of these use fake knives or gimmicks.
There is a great version on Michael Ammar's Money magic dvds but you have to tear the bill in half.
In the Linking Ring I found a Bill in Potato. The only 'gimmick ' you need is a potato peeler
In The Magician ( before your time & only just in mine) August 1939, page 90 there is Peter Warlock's Card ( could be bill) in walnut, in egg in lemon.
Also do look in Tarbell. There must be one there somewhere.
I have been researching this for one of our 18year old magicians and these come at the top of the list.

Indeed there is and it's called 'Producing a card from a whole orange'. Page 14-3 onwards.

And if you can't find 14-3 try Volume 1, page 277, The Card & The Orange.
It's the basic method but can be adapted to Bill in Orange or lemom if you don't like oranges.!!

An finally: Last night I remembered where I'd first come across the Lemon trick. The only time I had communication with Will Goldston, by post. Somewhere around 1950 I bought Louis Nikola's great book, Magical Masterpieces( 1934) In it Nikola tells of eagerly awaiting The Great Lemon Trick, price $10( early 20th. century) from the USA. During illness he worked out his own. It arrived. Great disappointment. Rubbish. He preferred his own. It's very simple but is a marked coin in lemon(unprepared) A little brass feke. Ingenious. Pages 59 to 67. The pages following detail an equally simple borrowed ring in orange as well.This is a packing needle with white tape pushed through an unprepared orange. Ring appears on tape( use string) when orange is cut open.
Then I found another simple method, from a French magician, in the Burlingham book on The Great Herrmann. It's never ending.

Yup. I have mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic. The Bill in Lemon effect that is taught in that is great. I got the book for $37 at BD in Ontario so if you're lookin for a bill in lemon effect for under 40, this is an entire course on magic and the BIL effect for a worthy price.
