OK - here's a weird alternative to the standard routine... might spice your life up...
Just as an aside, I've been putting my ID - in it's box, on the table.
The spectator names a card. The box has been on the table, unopened the whole time...
You mention magic moves - and mention the simplest move is the 'invisible turnover', where you turn the whole deck over, and one card stays the same way. You reach over, and just roll the box over 180 degrees.
Say 'it's done!'. Open the box (making sure you know which way up!!!) and remove the deck - spread through, show the selection is turned over. Voila!
Eliminates the standard 'here's one I prepared earlier' routine - and makes the trick appear as if the magic's happened in front of the spectator at the moment the deck is revolved. Easy, but quite effective.
