Bicycle Vintage Series 1800 (ellusionist.com)

The Deck
A bicycle deck looks like itis ancient and worn.

" 1800's appear to be ripped out of history. Gunbattles were fought over these cards. Lives were lost.

No detail was left untouched-- artwork on each card was delicately hand-crafted by Ellusionist's top deck artist Jason Brumbalow; no two cards look the same. Even the seal on the deck looks like it was left in a gritty New York alley for a while. "

Cost
$5.95 per deck

Review
Wow, it is amazing. First of all I have been quite angry about recent ellusionist products like the Master decks etc. . Anyway this is a really good idea. I mean it makes it much easier to create storys for your magic.
Here are some examples:

- this is an old deck of Ed Marlo, it does still things he did with it
----->ambitous card routine or rising card ....

- legendary deck which is powerful and gamblers are afraid of it
------> casino / card cheat routine

I hope you understand what I am talking about.

The card themselves have exactly the same feel/handling like the normal Bicycle cards. This means regarding quality and fanning ability they worse than Ghosts, Vipers and Masters.

Overall
I will give it a 10 out of 10 becuase it can be extremly useful and it is the first time ellusionist did not lie about a product becuase they actually look aged and not printed.

I probably wont be buying these cards. I never buy decks of cards from E. They may be cheap but shipping costs and time spent waiting is not worth the money in my opinion and I prefer buying my classic Bicycle decks from nothing up my sleeve.com

Plus ghost and black tiger decks just look fake in the eyes of the spectator. I feel they think the deck is special and a gimmick. Just my opinion anyways...

I don't usually like Ellusionist's products, mainly because of the undeserved hype they get, but I've had my eye on these for a while. I've starting weaving more bizarre effects into my performances, and these cards, as you said, seem great for working into stories.

A deck of these may be the first Ellusionist product I actually buy ;)

Thanks for the review.

Nice to see my former president has joined the forum! Welcom to Harry Truman!

I have a particular need for this deck as I do Val Evans 'Stop Trick' from Viking Workshop, which has a beautiful wooden card harder and a red ribbon to hold the cards. The classics will complete the parlour look of the effect and will fit wll with the rest of my act. Been looking forward to their release!

Are these actually "new" cards that are designed to look old? They can't actually be individually aged.
Could they pass for the real thing (actual old decks)?

Thanks DrTodd! Unfortunately, that's my real name :P

Roth, they are new cards designed to look old, I believe. I couldn't comment on how real they look though, so I'll let Peacock answer that.

The are new to look old and are in the standard bike/tally ho finish. From a distance they will look a treat for my needs. Ordered a bundle today, which gives a discount.

Hey Roth - they're not aged in the sense of your fabulous OUTLAW EFFECTS PRODUCTS (shameless plug - I know you love it!)

The aging is part of the actual design - they've been designed to LOOK old - and each card has been "treated" differently, so the aged appearance is different on each card.

1800s

My bundle of these just arrived. They are really quite nice. They handle like a regular deck of bikes but look really fantastic. The cards are uniquely different, which leaves open different possibilties for locating sections of the deck with a quick glance.

The big E and a bar code on the box somewhat detract from the otherwise excellent look achieved with these. For packet work and sub-samples, however, I think they will be marvellous.

Confirmed: these will be arriving at NUMS on 16th January. E have only just released dealer info today, and needless to say, as usual, they've held back in selling wholesale to suppliers. However, the date is 15th Jan, so I will be taking orders from 15th.

There will be limited quantities, so it will be first-come, first-served.

Cost is likely to be circa £4 per-deck. Just gotta wait see how much I get crowbared by customs (There's a big order coming, Vintage, Ghosts, Tigers etc... i.e. V. Heavy)

I was hoping to push them out at £3, though.

Oooooh the excitement!

Any news on these Seige? Much as I'm someone averse to lining E's pockets, these do look quite cool...

A fun pack of cards to have, but a serious waste of money. Just buy a normal deck of bikes for pete's sake!
