Worlds Greatest Magic - Finger Ring Magic

Running Time Approximately 2hr 5min

The Effect

Various tricks and routines involving a borrowed, ungimmicked finger ring. Most of which involve the ring being put on a piece of string and magically plucked off.

Cost

Only £15.00!!!!

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

I would say 3 to 5 (some tricks/routines are a lot easier than others).

Review

I wanted to learn a ring and string routine for a while now, but have had difficulty getting hold of (what I'm told is the superior) "Ring Leader" by Gregory Wilson, and i saw this DVD for only £15.00. I decided to give it a try, and I certainly was not disappointed.

Theres sooo much on here that it'd take me hours to describe every effect, so i'll just comment briefly on each routine.
This list culled from another site (in italic), with comments added by myself.

DARYL
Ring, Rope, Wand

This is excellent, and taught in Daryls usual brisk, clear style.

JAY SANKEY
Stirring Silver
Nest Egg

Not massively keen on the ring through spoon, but some of you will love it. Nest egg is great, a ring vanishes and ends up inside a matchbox, which is inside a card box.

MARK LEVERIDGE
The Ring and String Routine

Lovely routine, with some great moves.

AL SCHNEIDER
Off
Ring-n-Pencil
Ring Gag
Coin Through Ring

Loads of stuff from Al Schneider here, all very high quality.

DAVID ROTH
Coin Through Ring

Mr. Roth here explains several methods of pulling a coin through a ring, under cover of a hankerchief. Pretty good stuff.

FLIP
Wand-A-Ring

One of the duller performances on the DVD in my opinion, but some great ring on and off a wand moves.

MICHAEL AMMAR
The Ring, The String and The Safety Pin

Loved this!, a very, very clever method.

ALEXANDER DE COVA
Ring-O-Matic (courtesy of Murphy's Magic Inc.)

This is more ring and string, but using the cover of a hat, for some even bolder moves.

DAN FLESHMAN
Ring and String
Ring Flight

One of my favourite performances, encorporating a ring flight into the mix.

GREGORY WILSON
Garrett Thomas' Ring Thing

Teaches the basic "Ring Thing" moves from the full priced Garrett Thomas DVD. Excellent!!!

JON TREMAINE
Ring on Rope

Probably my favourite routine on the DVD, yet more ring and string, but done in such a smooth elegant style. Great!!

Overall

For the price i would say this is my best purchase in a long time. A massive amount of material to pick and choose from. So many different moves and routines to choose from, that it's almost overwhelming.
All set out in clear, user friendly menus. Highly recommended.

This a great course in ring magic, this and ring leader then you will be well away.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

I generally prefer books to DVDs, but I can recommend this one. I also especially liked the Tremaine routine.

Has anyone tried the Flip routine? If so, what kind of wand or stick do you use? I found the ring made a terrible noise against a wooden or plastic wand.

Hi, I also have Ring Leader - and it;s fun - this sounds interesting too.
Where can you buy it?
Thanks,
Ed.
