Hua Hin Dice

Hua Hin Dice

Alakazam £44.99

Effect

A beautiful wood box and two black dice are shown. Both of the dice are then placed inside the box which is then closed and given to the spectator to shake. The spectator is now asked to open the box and add up the total of the numbers showing. The dice are shaken two more times, by the spectator, and each time the total showing is added to the previous total. The performer, who at no time sees any of the totals on the dice, is able to reveal the final total.

The performer then offers to repeat the effect by adding one more dice, making it even more impossible, but still is able to predict the total of the dice after they are shaken several times.

This is one of those effects that you can repeat over and over again and it gets even more puzzling with each repetition. Collector's quality and hand finished in mahogany & sycamore. Points to remember:

The three dice used are completely normal.

Everything can be examined before and after.

The effect can be repeated with a different outcome each time.

Review:

This effect is very nicely produced in high quality polished wood. It is one of those effects that will become quite a collector's item. The method is dead simple and truly ingenious. You can repeat it and add a third die to the effect. The box is small enough to fit in your jacket pocket for table hopping and walk around. Everything is examinable before, during, and after the effect. I am certain that all of you will get so much value out of this effect, which in my view packs a real mental punch! It could also be combined with other mental effects using dice.

All in all I give this a 10/10.

I agree...this is sweet and clean as a whistle...it would take a very clear thinking and deductive punter to backward engineer the effect and ruin it.

The box is very nice indeed...you could drown in the gloss it is finished with and the wood is beautiful.

I like the fact that the routine can stand alone or you can use the workings to force numbers as part of a more elaborate routine.

Yes, I was impressed with the gloss as well...

I've been looking at this one and wondering whether the magic was as good as the obvious craftsmanship involved in making the box. Many thanks for making helping me make my mind up.

Yes, Martin, as Tom says, it would be very difficult to backward engineer this one. I had to do it a couple of times to myself to see that it actually works, which is to say, the principle is simple but highly deceiving. It is also repeatable and you can add a die to mix things up a bit.

Thats funny you said that, I did the same thing. It is super simple but there MUST be a logic "disconnect" or hurdle in there somewhere that is tough for our linear minds to get over...well a "simpleton" like me anyway!

Cool...Yes, it is a algebraic solution, but I was not in that mode when I first read the method. I think it will slay the general public
