The M5 System/The Pro PK Kit

Postby k88 » Nov 17th, '06, 16:43

I've been here a while now, but this is my first actual review seeing as I have a day off school today.

Available from: http://www.ellusionist.com, http://www.penguinmagic.co.uk, http://www.magictricks.co.uk most magic retailers

Cost: I got mine from Penguin and I had a 10% discount, so for me it was about £37. Most other places, about £60-£70 mark.

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

1-2, because there aren't actually any "sleights". I'll explain in a minute.

They Say:
The Pro PK Kit (a.k.a. The New Micro 5) - Your spectators will scream. This REACTION MACHINE will enable you to perform the most powerful street and mentalism effects in the world. Easy to use. Highly Recommended!!!

"You could start a religion with this!"

Make matches stand in a spectator's hand, stop watches, move objects with your mind and much, much more!!!

People will believe you are a real psychic!

For over 10 years magicians around the world have been whispering about the Three Hundred Dollar Micro 5...

This incredible tool is finally available to magicians of all levels... at a price that makes it very hard to resist!

The Pro PK Kit includes the Micro 5 PK magnet, the thinnest & most powerful PK magnet available, with a lifetime guarantee. No other PK magnet is as thin and as strong. Thin enough to conceal on your wrist, under a coat, yet strong enough to penetrate the thickest hands and tables.

I say
"Whoah!!" My first words once I opened the box and took out the massive magnet. It was already showing its power by messing up the tv from a few feet away. I have never seen a magnet so powerful, the pennies on the table were literally flying to it.

A little word of warning first, do not but this god of magnets by any little magnets...ahem..for example a PK ring [which I stupidly did]. My ring was already broken in 2, but then I thought 2 magnets should attract from a further distance than pennies; so I put it about 30cm away from the ring in the air and it was moving...I slowly went closer and the ring just jumped it, smashing it  now i have 10 little magnets....

I've played with this for awhile, it got do a load of effects. I have a metal pen pot, I placed it on the table, with my M5 strapped to my leg, and it could easily move it. I made it go round then fall. My 8 year old brothers eyes just lit up, and started jumping up and down

Easily make pennis stand on top of each other, then hold the top one and spin the bottom, shim a pen and make it spin, make a fork on your plate move; I was doing that at school and "accidently" threw my food across the table...unintentionally of course :D

What you get

The actual M5, its 2" x 2" x 0.5" smaller than the Monster Bertha.
I dont know how it compares with the Bertha in power, but I would reckon its the same?

A book with 80ish routines
They are all pretty much repeats of them selves anyway, if not quite easy to think of anyway. Just limited by your imagination

A manuscript of additional routines
Well a piece of paper with some things on telling you the warnings, how to strap it on etc.

2 'brass' rings
Well...self explanatory. Haven't actually used them to perform, seriously, who caries 2 brass rings with them anyway? I use keyrings instead more casual and everyone has them!

A Shim Shell Coin
Too bad its an American penny, but has its uses. Oh, and comes with 2 normal American pennies too.

Shimming supplies
"Supplies" they make it sound like alot dont they? Its about 2" by 4". Not much at all. And a bit of shim wire, quite a bit more with the wire.

A custom wrist strap
Not that good, but it does its job, its just a piece of black elastic, with a pocket in that holds the M5 and is "fastened" by a safety pin.

Overall
Brilliant. First time into the PK world really, next to the PK ring which is like an ant compared to an elephant. Very powerful, lots of effects and just great to play with too  like I.D. said in his review of the Monster Bertha, it really is more about the storyline than anything else, once you can control this beast. People are just attracted by the effects sorry

I have to say one of the best buys in a while. DO read the warnings. Do do what it says...unlike me...who nearly broke my new k800i...and seriously don't put it by anything electrical. Oh stay away from radiators, metal table legs and the like...it was strapped to my wrist and flung onto the table in a lesson

Long story made short, great effectS. Use your imagination. Powerful.

Buy it! Even if your not into PK effects...buy it!

Price: 8/10 depending on where you buy it and if you pay £70 for it
Effects: 9/10

Overall:- 9/10 you just stick to everything lost its 1 mark

So how bad was my first review?

Nice Review. Reviews as detailed as this really help newbies like myself decide whether to dig into their pockets or not. As for the time being i think i'll pass, don't have much confidence in anything other than self working magic, just being new

Thanks :)

Great review. :D
I already have The Bat and this sounds very, very similar. You even get the rings and shim coin with it. Does anyone know if there is any difference between the two?
Sounds that the M5 is possibly more powerful than The Bat, though I have had the same problem of sticking to things with it!

I don't own the bat, but from what I've heard it's alot more powerful than the bat, the raven etc.

M5

Postby willdeanda » Apr 17th, '07, 06:46

I own an M5 and I have used it with A few slight Modifications but this is about power and the M5 delivers. It can do thing that are impossible with a bat and raven combined (I tried..ha). Keep in mind you are paying for the method more than anything but you get a few "extra"s included with the Kit that make up for the cost. Unfortunatly it can be bulky but angles are not usually a problem if the moment is built in the right way. I live in Arizona and it gets hot out here.. a lot... so I find myself only using this like 3-4 times a year in winter but I still think its worth it to have people if even for a moment thinking you are a god... or devil. Just remember NO ELECTRONICS!. 7/10

i've really been contemplating buying an M5-- but it's about to get warm here in Boston... and i'll be wearing tshirts all the time. The idea about putting it on your leg and moving forks around on a table really intrigues me though!! **has anyone seen the movie "Powder"??**

anyway this review might have just pushed me over the edge-- but i think I'm going to shop around for a good price now... maybe ebay!!!

Davewise...
if all you want to do is move forks then I would suggest not buying an M5 but instead go for mesika products. You can obtain Mesika product from a local shop or online but it is definitely cheaper if price is a concern.

In the future please be a bit more please try to be creative when talking about specific placement of said item (M5). Thanks

Sorry D.

Postby willdeanda » Apr 18th, '07, 04:23

Sorry, Davewise I didn't see the above mentioned exposure of said Item. Since we now all know exactly what an M5 is...talking about placement will not matter. o'well

Hadn't used my M5 for a fair few months, got it out the other day as I've been thinking of a new routine in which to use it in. I'm quite convinced it's lost some of it's power. Now it might just be me, my memories not what is once was (thanks beer), but I'm sure it's not as powerfull as it once was. I'm finding that the centre of the magnet is far less magnetic than the edges. A penny for example will go to the edge but will be pushed away from the centre. Can anyone who has one tell me if this is common and I'm just forgetting that this is how it has always been, or if I have a problem with the magnet. Thanks.

that sounds terrible!! How long have you had it?? If this is a common problem-- it doesn't sound to me like it's worth the money.

is there a way to re-polarize magnets? get all of those things goin the same way again?!?!?1

I will be getting mine tomorrow and then I'll tell you if it's normal...

I heard that magnets should never loose their power, I believe you also have a lifetime warranty on the M5... The only way it could loose power is if it is exposed to extreme temperatures (-170°/+170°), if it is broken or if 500 years suddenly passed very quickly! So I wouldn't worry about that

I think you'll find it has to do with the polarity of the M5 & the penny not the strength of it

Have you tried turning the M5 around the other way. I have noticed that the sides seem to have the opposite to the center...
