The Effect The Magus Capsule by Jay Sankey

Cost $44.95 from penguinmagic

Difficulty would say from a 3 upwards depending on how easy you find "object" vanishes ets
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

what it says on the tin With vanishes, appearances, multiplications and a "jumbo load finale," there's no doubt that cups and balls is an absolute classic of magic. But why do so few magicians actually PERFORM the effect for "real people" on a regular basis? The answer is simple: three large cups are heavy and awkward, too much table space is required for a performance, and there are just too many items to carry!

That's why the MAGUS CAPSULE is a walk around magician's dream! Small enough for a jacket pocket, large enough to pack a lethal punch, the capsule features a revolutionary new design with "built-in misdirection" while adding a quiet touch of class to any performance.

On the special Magus Capsule companion DVD Jay teaches a powerful handful of sleights and techniques including:
RETENTION VANISH
FALSE TRANSFER
POP-UP MOVE
SPIDER VANISH
KNOCK-OUT & HPC TECHNIQUES
Jay also performs and explains some of his favorite Magus Capsule routines including:
SHAKEN, NOT STIRRED
NESTING INSTINCT
THREE BALLS ACROSS
TIME CAPSULE
WILD FIRE
This DVD also includes 3 new Sankey close-up effects!

"Drawing A Blank": A signed "vampire card" steals the body of a signed selection!

"Relocation": A borrowed, marked coin travels from the spectator's right hand to the spectator's left hand!

"Impossibler": An astounding, triple-climax, two-deck routine!

What You Get

A FULL-LENGTH DVD WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW TO PERFORM WITH THE MAGUS CAPSULE PLUS THREE BRAND NEW SANKEY EFFECTS!
A SPUN ALUMINUM, SATIN FINISH CAPSULE WITH BUILT-IN "CHOP CUP" FEATURE!
FOUR ROYAL BLUE HAND-CROCHETED BALLS!
The ability to perform astonishing magic with balls, rocks, cherries, limes, flash paper, coins, playing cards and even hard boiled eggs!

Run time: 75 minutes

Overall i ALWAYS wanted to try cups and balls but could never actually see myself with the 3 brass cups and all the stuff that goes with it, so when i saw this i knew i HAD to get it, assembled its about 3 and a half inches long and maybe an inch and a half across, fits into the pocket with no problem at all ... which was my big reason for not liking the original cups and balls!......

the Capsule- well made from aluminium and sturdy enough to take a few knocks and bumps and the added bonus of the "chop" feature (which may be a little too strong actuall but will persevere with it)

the Balls- 4 well made crochet balls (one "special" one)

the DVD- the presentation on the dvd is well explained and well shot offering 5 routines for the magus capsule and an "ideas" section to give the viewer a few tasters of things that can be done. Also has the 3 new Sankey effects which to be honest are worth the price of the dvd alone, and of course everything is explained in Jays own inimitable style

Verdict 9/10 for everything... maybe not a classic prop yet but its not far off it

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

WOOOHOOO!

Hooray for Jay, hooray for Jay!

He's done it again... by the sounds of things...

Cheers, Mog. Maybe another to add to the Xmas list (if I can wait that long).

Hi Mog,

I was tempted from what I saw on the website movie.

How big are the capsules? From the vid it is difficult to tell just a rough idea of dimensions would be good.

Mine arrived last week (spanish post  ) - I'm really pleased with it.

For those of you that have the Magus Capsule what is your favourite routine of Sankey's from the DVD?

My favourite is WILD FIRE. People just love fire in an effect and the fact that this uses a spectators signature makes the whole effect really powerful. Packs small plays big - just as Jay promised.

personally i like the cocktail shaker effect.. the final load should in NO WAY be able to "come out" of the capsule but i must admit that wildfire is good also

The final loads are great - I haven't tried this yet at i do mostly walkaround and my pocket space doesn't realy allow for carrying big final loads - but i am going to put some more practise time in on this.

I love watching the HPC move Sankey does on the DVD!

I have been working with the cups and balls for some time. This is an excellent alternative. It fits great in the palm of the hand and is easy to use.
