Magicians wax is used in a variety of tricks, and plays an important roll in magic, not so much these days, with all these nifty gimmicks that do all the work them selves.
I recently puchased some of the top end wax from a magic retailer. Which to my dissapointment didn't do the job I wished, skin to wax adhesion left something to me desired, yet after handling or kneading the wax object to wax adhesion was reasonable, for use in coin magic the wax was vitually useless, but for cards and fabric it was reasonable.
I strongly suggest puchasing a bee's wax candle and using wax from it as an alternative, it's pliable from the start and will stick most things again and again, but over all, for one off adhesions use sellotape sticky dots, can't be "made" very easily by spectators and very strong bond but easy to remove, available in a series of strenghts.
Bluetac or double sided tape I have also found to be ok.
(ratings take into account strength, durability, and also discreetness)
Magicians wax - 3/10
Bee's wax - 6/10
Sticky dots - 8/10
Double sided tape - 7/10
Blu tac - 4/10
