Coloured bicyle cards

Postby Robert_lavigne » Aug 14th, '07, 00:17

The other day at Walmart I was going to buy some cards when I saw Bicyle cards with coloured faces, white numbers and symbols, and a back similar to normal bikes except that instead of blue or red they were the same color as the face. They came an assortment of colours; green, blue, pink, purple and yellow. I bought the greens. (See picture)

Cost- $3.25 Cnd.

Review- these cards handle the exact same as normal bikes do. They also look really cool. The down side to them is that the colored face will set of an alarm anytime you mishandle(on normal bikes the white face blends in with the white borders). Any tricks where you hide a face up card with a facedown card requires perfect handling. This makes these cards dangerous to perform with. They are useful for practice however, you can really work on fine tuning basic handlings like double lifts and the emsley count.

Conclusion- If you're looking for cards to perform with, I don't recommend these, just go with the normal bikes. (people are always suspicious of strange cards anyways). If you're looking for some cool looking cards for yourself then these are pretty sweet, and there only 3 bucks.

Good little review there Rob - do you thinm you will ever use these cards in routines or anything?

If I remember correctly I managed to find a few decks of these on the net somewhere, quite a while ago - as I recall I purchased a brick of coloured cards - I got a tiger deck, ghost deck, green deck, blue deck, pink deck, a black backed normal deck of bikes, an orange backed deck of bikes and a normal red and blue deck.
I agree with you're says though - tricks are quite difficult with these, and (as I have found with tiger decks) people actually get confused as to what card they have because the pips are white on a green background as opposed to red / black - plus people do get VERY suspicious of the cards

I would say one thing though - for colour changes and card force tricks these cards are a godsend - they add such a bigger impact than 'oh look, here is your card' as it becomes - 'wow my card is a totally different colour on the back *turn over* AND ON THE FACE !!!'

Uses for these cards: (well, how I used them)

Pink: In clubs / bars use these on the 'playboy bunny' generation of girls who you see hanging round - at university on campus bars and clubs these kind of girls were everywhere and the first reaction was 'wow PINK CARDS WOOOOO!!!'

Green: I had mine whilst the whole 'wow its St Patricks day lets get drunk' thing was going on - these went down a treat (much ion the same way the pink ones did - 'WOW! GREEN CARDS')

Blue faced / random coloured back decks: Colour change routines / card revelations which involve a force of any kind

Ghost / Tiger: In clubs with UV lights, as these light up a treat (I prefer ghost deck, as in a dimly lit club they look much less suspicious, and hence I find you get less of 'they must be a trick deck'

Final thing (sorry to be stealing this thread Rob :P)
I got purchased a very strange deck of cards...An Elephant deck...They are camo green (much like Robs green cards, but a camo / olive green) and they have black pips...the ace however, is an elephant...:S - anyone got a clue where these are from / why they were made?

The elephant decks, if memory serves correctly were produced to aid the tsunami fund.

Probably worth keeping hold of in good condition if you are lucky enough to have a pack.

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh

Magicbox do a Rainbow Bicycle Brick which includes the blue, pink and green cards mentioned above. It's worth getting as it has some good decks in there also has:
Normal Bikes with Green back
Normal Bikes with Black back
Black Tiger
Black tiger with red pips
Tally Ho Viper deck
Normal red & blue bikes
Red and blue bikes (League back)

I use the bright coloured decks for colour change effects and the pink cards for an un-pc routine which gets laughs.

I'll probably end up using these cards for poker night more then in any routine. I like the idea of using them for color changes as they would make a real bang. However the only color change I am currently doing involves showing the card face in the routine, which isn't possible with these cards. So I guess I need to come up with one that doesn't show off that green face to early. Any recomendations?

As magicmonkey said, these were produced as a fund raiser for victims of the Tsunami.

The story goes:
Some time, about 20 minutes or so, before the Tsunami struck, elephants near the coast went crazy, trumpeting and charging off for higher ground.
The locals who were clued up realised something was wrong and decided to follow the elephants (easy to do because they flatten everything in their path).
As a result there are many people alive today (including two young English girls who were having an elephant ride at the time! Tony Blair later met the elephant on a visit to Thailand, I think) who are alive because of the elephants.
(The elephants were also instrumental in pulling people out of the water in areas where vehicles couldn't get to).

Big question - How did the elephants know?

And that gives you the setting for a mentalist routine!

wow - I had no idea whatsoever about them, as I said, they were just purchased for me to add to my cards. I dont really want to use the, cos they look so cool - I would hate to ruin them. They have been opened, but I have only ever looked at them lol. Seems they are worth keeping :P

Sorry though Rob, The only colour change I know involves the face being shown too...with a tiger deck for get a cool gaff card (I got the 3 of clubs I think) Its a tiger back, but with a normal face - that makes for a wiked colour change, plus you can show the face of it :D (hope that helps :P)

I just tried to do mercury with these cards. I'm glad it wasn't in a performance is all I'll say. I think these cards are better left alone when it comes to performing.

$3.25 Canadian Dollars, works out at roughly, £1.53. Ive never seen them as cheap as that. Thats pretty impressive.

colour change trick

Postby MagicianJonny » Aug 20th, '07, 16:04

i know a good trick where yoyu can do a colour change with your funny green deck, before the trick, or during a routine distraction, slip a card under the table (your one that will change colour) and wedge it under the table leg or something, then use your normal deck and force the card that will change colour, ask them to put it back and say i will make your card appear on the bottom of the deck, slam the cards face down on the table 2 or three times then say the card has gone too far and ask them to look under the table, i use this a lot and although it is simple, the people get a surprise, you may also do this with only one deck though after the force tell them to hold the pack and think of the card that is the same number and colour but a different suit, then make it appear below table, have a practice and enjoy, i am revealing this as i learnt it all by myself, i did not buy this or steal from the pros on TV, this is 100 percent original, ENJOY!

I've never seen them before. They look bright enough to momentarily blind your spec. Good for hiding shoddy sleights. :)

I find, if you do a tight fan with Bee cards, it can give the spectator a brief migrane.
