The really great triple prediction Trilogy just got better!

I picked this up from Alakazam (http://www.alakazam.co.uk) at the IMS Covention last weekend. Trilogy has been reviewed here by Tom Lauten and Lindz, but Streamline adds a new twist.

The basic plot: three spectators, three predictions, nor forcing, no sticky cards, one deck left in full view at all times.

The performer shows a deck that has been marked with bold numbers on the back of each card. The magician then says that he has memorised the cards and numbers AND can transmit the numbers mentally to the spectators.

The magician names a card (e.g. 6 hearts) and spectator 1 is asked to imagine an odd number that might be on the back. The magician names a second card (e.g. Jack of Spades) and spectator 2 is asked to imagine an even number associated with the card. The magician then names a number (e.g. 35) and asks the third spectator what card he can imagine has that number (complete free choice apart from the two cards already named).

The deck is taken out of the box. Spectator 1's number is found and the card placed face down on the hand. Spectator 2's number is found and the card is placed face down on the hand. The deck is turned face up and Spectator 3's card is found and placed face up on the hand.

One by one the cards are turned over to reveal a perfect prediction! The six of hearts has the named odd number, the jack of spades has the named even number, and the card numbered 35 matches the spectators free choice!

The new version allows the deck to be in complete view at all times. It is reset in a jiffy for the next performance, so very portable and suitable for table work, as well as 'mix and mingle'.

I really like the improvement in this effect. It is so deceptive and so powerful! The three-way revelation and the fair conditions under which the numbers and cards are shown and chosen makes this a super strong mental effect.

My verdict?

10/10

Does this really work only by having spectator 1 and 2 choose odd or even numbers or do you still need to guide them into rather low or rather high numbers, too, like in the original version?

Don't these two restrictions limiting the free choice weaken the effect?

The guidance suggests discussing how long they have known each other and making their choices random but somewhat far apart.

I did this on Friday night for a dinner party and I think the combination of the three numbers, especially the third number provided a very strong effect.

I also like the fact that the deck sits on the table the whole time that you do the effect. You introduce it early on and then use your hands to talk about the cards and the numbers. I got really good feedback on the effect. I guess it is a question of how good you are at working it.

From what I gather the deck supplied is not a Bike deck. Is it possible to make your own deck using Bikes or to just buy it somewhere made on Bike cards?

No you can't really make it on bikes because of a certain sublety but you don't need it on bikes, The reason you give for not having it on bikes is you didn't want to write all over the back of expensive cards so you used cheap ones to write on.

I have to agree this effect is very strong.
I use two decks and force two cards from it instead of naming two cards and having the numbers named.
I bought this and will be keeping it.
