Review

A quality package, with professional presentation. This dvd has a main menu with ‘Performances’ and ‘Explanations’ . This simple feature enables you to watch a performance and immediately view the explanation, or watch all the performances (as I did first time round). He clearly demonstrates all the required moves and the 7 effects on this dvd are amazing card routines. You will need to pause, rewind, slow motion etc to really follow the explanations and get it locked down, this is a great way to practice. JC includes ‘Ace, 2 ,3, 4..but only four’ which he has adapted from his original manuscript ‘7 secrets’ which he wrote in 1978. The dvd also comes with a gimmicked card to enable one of the tricks and you could use that card to develop your own routine. There are slights involved but nothing really daunting, just a lot of moves in one routine to learn, this will be a great purchase and provide hours of practice as you learn all the tricks.

Overall

I am not a fan of JC’s style but respect him as a veteran performer and his tricks are amazing, I will just work them slightly different, I find it hard to follow the cards as JC flourishes and uses cards to flip cards over etc but I would simply do things slightly different (as if I could handle cards like him, I wish). He is a very competent magi although a flash on one of his routines almost spoilt the dvd for me, I went back to it a few days later and really really enjoyed it, a lot of time would be needed to be spent watching this dvd to master all these tricks. This dvd is definitely worth its price tag as it will equip you with the knowledge to perform not 7 but actually 8 top effects, 7 of them without any gaffs or doubles etc.

Postby Trickyfied » Wed Oct 10, 2007 5:31 pm

Sorry to bump my own thread but I would be interested to know if anyone has this dvd and thier thoughts, do you perform any of these effects in a working enviroment? I want to discuss the handling of the Universal Card premise with the gaff card

I also would like to learn more about this DVD. I am really considering purchasing this DVD. I know its old material, but I would like to buy something off "mainstream" sort to speak and see what this has for me. However, I am not sure.

Are most of these tricks done with a spectator's involvement or done without (ex. you are performing a routine of some sort liek collectors)
